I'd like the fight of course. Just not sure whether Opetaia will go for it.

    * Winning a WBO regional title will earn a fighter a world ranking. So expect Light to be inside top 15 in June hopefully.
    * Lucas Browne is fighting Thomas Little July 27 London.
    * George Kambosos Jr no longer with Justin Roach and is now training out of Miami. Ferocious is having a fight in Greece and then expect a return to USA in late / summer fall for another fight.

    * This is bright news. Wildcard Fighting second installment just like the first ( this time not on short notice ) will be once again be streamed live on Aus Boxing Facebook Page Sat June 1. With Jason Whateley headlining vs Victor Oganov.

Jason Whateley is very talented. A 2016 Olympian & like David Light, a Commonweatlh games silver medalist.

Hopefully he's ready to mix it with the big boys soon. Can't say I'm excited about seeing him in with Oganov, but I guess it's about finding guys who are willing to take him on.

The success of the first Wildfighter show was based on having two talented headline acts. With our other 2016 Olympian Daniel Lewis fighting overseas in the short term, the Wildfighter crew could do with another young up & coming talent to showcase.

What about Liam Wilson, the Australian Junior Lightweight champ? He's a real talent & looks like he could use some decent promotion b/c he hasn't fought since winning the national title impressively in only his third pro fight.

With Whateley, Wilson & hopefully Daniel Lewis to come back into the mix, that would make these shows must see. Particularly if they can find decent opposition for them.

I think we all want to see Opetaia in with higher quality opponents.

If he doesn't get them, we know what's going to happen when he does step up.

With the result on the weekend, David Light has established himself as the most challenging opponent Opetaia could face on the local scene.

Hopefully it's a match that gets made. As you mentioned, Kane Watts for his world ranking & Mark Flanagan are other decent local options for him.

    * Three prospects to watch out for on Wildfighter 2nd show which will be streamed live on Aus Boxing Facebook Page Sat June 1.
    * 20 yr old Furkan Deminkaya LW 1 - 0 who is a former Aust Am Rep and rated highly by many boxing insiders. Liam Wilson beat Furkan in Nationals to claim a spot on Gold Coast CMW team.
    * Blake Bomber Wells SMW 2 -0 2 ko . The Bomber has won both his pro fights in 1st rd and first made headlines for flooring Anthony Mundine in sparring 2015. His next fight a Thai who last fight was against Daniel Lewis . Talk about a hard way to earn a buck.
    * 3 x Muay Thai World Champ Victor Nagbe SWW 1 - 0.
    * The Hornet is in training to fight Zerafa Bendigo Aug 31. I assume its the Bendigo Indoor Stadium ( 4000 capacity. )
    * Daniel Lewis who beat Tim Tszyu as AM is latest fighter to express interest in facing Tszyu. His manager '' They are on express to World Champion and we want Tszyu straight away. "
Jeff Fenech '' Lewis is a brutal bodypuncher whose crowd pleasing style will make him an
    instant hit with fight fans."
    * Its was busy yr for Liam Wilson 2018 with CMW Games and winning Aust LW Title and the birth of his daughter. Liam " Not long until i am back in the ring ."
    * Joe Goodall on a extensive break as 2018 was also a busy yr.

I'm half Kiwi/Samoan so I'll side with the winner hahaha but yeah, surely this fight happens at the end of the year. Maybe Light could get in with a southpaw before facing Opetaia?

I really like the look of the Junior Middleweight division in this country right now.

We've got a couple of top tier guys in Horndog (who will hopefully fight for a world title before the year is out) & Dennis Hogan (who should already hold one).

Two really good intermediate level guys in Michael Zerafa (former Commonwealth champ) & Dwight Ritchie (IBF regional champ).

Two terrific prospects in Junior Tszyu & Daniel Lewis. Lewis is a guy with 150 amateur fights to his name along with Commonwealth & Olympic games appearances.

Two very strong gatekeeper types in Joel Camilleri & Jamie Weetch. Weetch gave Dennis Hogan more trouble in the first four rounds of their fight than what Mexican Mungo did over 12.

Throw in the New Zealand Junior Middleweight champ and it's a bangin' division.

What also sets it apart is the willingness of those competing in it to face each other.

If we don't produce a world champion or two out of that lot, I'll be very surprised.

A great opponent for David Light next up would be Blake Caparello, who is a southpaw.

He would cost a bit to secure as an opponent but it would seem to me if they can afford to get Mark Flanagan as an opponent for Light, they could make a decent offer to Caparello.

Another win there & Light would go into a fight with Opetaia at the end of the year very well prepared.

I can see a tremendous era for the middles of Antipodean boxing just around the corner , and as @ sandman and a few other will attest to I've always said it's no good sending your blokes up to the northern hemisphere with a few padded wins on their record as they will get found out as has been the case in recent years , it's no secret that when your lads were having their most success in world title terms these regional paper titles were virtually non existent, historically you've always been strong and respected more on the world stage when your fighters have been through a world of **** trying to be the best of where they're from domestically and to a certain extent the best in the commonwealth. Exciting times ahead lads good luck I'm looking forward to it .

I like the idea of Tszyu pursuing the Commonwealth title should the opportunity present itself.

I think they had a shot at the vacant title lined up but when the original opponent withdrew they couldn't get a sanction for the replacement.

A couple of British fighters will contend for the vacant Cth title next month.

Either would make a good opponent for Tszyu next year.

Luke Jackson fighting Aug 3. Luke you are wasting your time training and living in Sydney full time if you keep being matched up with Asian fighters who are way over matched. Same with Brock Jarvis.
