The big issue is the guy is 34 and will start to decline shortly. He doesn’t have time to be built into a PPV star. On top of that for him to earn that kind of money on PPV it needs sell over 2.5 million PPVs in US and UK which no one but Floyd has done. Currently he has sold 1 PPV at 350,000 People will find the app to watch that fight for $20. DAZN are guaranteeing him 1.5m PPV buys upfront. What does it matter who watches as there will not be many people to sell a PPV with after that fight anyway and If that’s the big issue and AJ isn’t tied down why not offer him the fight on PPV all the offers are coming from one side.

The other issues are that either of them could catch a flash punch and lose at any moment.

I am amazed that they are not striking while the irons hot. The amount of cash this fight would make is unbelievable, it would be the biggest heavyweight fight since the 90s. They risk all this by waiting around. I can only imagine they think they will make more long term by fighting tomato cans, but the fans won’t keep accepting this.

The thing is that Wilder is still not that big a star. I've said elsewhere but he's an unbeaten American heavyweight knockout artist, (essentially all the boxes you would tick if you wanted to create a money making superstar) and he earns less money than a Kazakh middleweight and a British heavyweight who's had half as many fights. That just shouldn't be happening. He should be telling his advisers if he's serious that earning big money is better than being told you can earn big money.

Plus, whilst the Joshua fight should happen, there is precedent for it not to happen (Lewis Bowe), and Joshua has plenty of alternative options. Joshua Whyte in the UK is still huge. Joshua Usyk is huge. Give it a year and Joshua against the winner of Gorman Dubois would be huge. Joshua Fury will always be huge.

Wilder Ortiz II will self-evidently not be huge.

He’s 34 but the mileage is very low and there’s been no real big injuries. He’s got another 3-4 years I reckon. Just hope we see him in with Joshua in that time at least twice. Just need Hearn to wind his neck in.

Not just Hearn. Wilders team have a 3 fight plan of Ortiz Kownacki and Breazeale which is now done. It’s pathetic.

I don't accept for a moment that Wilders team have decided to turn down a hundred million in order to fight Breazeale, Ortiz again and Kownacki because Hearn won't wind his neck in. Nobody believes that for a second.

You should see all the comments posted on Shirley Winkel's Sky Sports interview on Youtube. Everyone knows he's a slimeball that lies through his teeth.

He basically said 'we went to AJ and his team to make the fight but they didn't want it.'

Adam Smith then asked him, 'will you make the fight now?' Shirley replied "This fight can be bigger if we wait"

There's no logical way it becomes bigger by virtue of Wilder fighting the likes of Ortiz and Kownacki in the US. So it seems like he's waiting for Joshua to become bigger if we take him at his word.

I agree but Wilders side refusing $100m to have him fight Ortiz and Kownacki to try and keep PBV afloat is hardly helping the situation. Plus Wilder has gone and said he wouldn’t take the fight even if it was 50/50

Exactly. If Wilder wants to make it bigger he should sign DAZN deal and fight Whyte and if he knocked him out as I think he would then the Joshua fight will grow big time.

    'They don't appreciate his humour.'

Fighters have literally threatened to kill each other before and agreed to fight. If you think Wilders team are in any way knocking back a fight with Joshua on the basis that Hearn calls him Shirley Winkle then, I don't know. I just don't believe you.

Oh calm down, Tony. My point is, your mate is egotistical and openly discusses what he believes splits should be etc. Maybe not everyone wants to do business with someone like that, especially when they’re telling EVERYONE what they think you’re worth.
