True, I agree with the thread starter. As I said, this situation reminds me of the aftermath of Wilder vs Stiverne 2 when the fabnoys were making him to be the new Iron Mike, only to get humiliated by the coke head Fury in the next fight. I give Wilder a full credit for that straight right, it's deadly and it's nothing new. But the only thing beside his power this short fight comfirmed, is that he's ready to get KOed by a good counter. Breazeale countered him with 2 weak get off me right hands on his face and it hurt him.
I think Deontay's record is pretty crap, with a couple of decent wins. He also has ugly technique and looked lost against Ortiz. This weekend proved absolutely nothing and only idiots (of which there are plenty at ESB) would gobble this up as evidence of greatness. However, two things: 1. No-one can deny that he is super-dangerous and has a great equalizer. 2. He also has the guts to persist and still succeed in fights even when he is outboxed. That shows character and counts for something. So Joshua should beat him but he's gotta be very careful.
Six years on and he's still a KO waiting to happen, it appears. That's a long wait. And when eventually he does get stopped - most HWs do - we'll get the 'told you so' follow-up thread or a bump of this one. His chin is okay from what I can tell.... based on, well.... the past six years.....
Yeah, I said his chin was 'okay' but if it was as bad as the OP 'hilariously' suggests it wouldn't take a big puncher to find it - not over a six-year period - and Ortiz would have actually KO'd him. I'm sure his chin can be got to and he gets wobbled so it's not ATG or close to that. But it's not a bad chin and the point of this thread has been refuted...
Damn right. He does so many things badly and he's been well-matched over his career but fair-dos he's better than I gave him credit for. I was convinced Ortiz was going to stop him as that fight evolved. He was getting out-boxed by the old man. But he survived and got the stoppage. Ortiz, Fury and DB.... that's a decent run of fights albeit each bout can be mitigated in some way: old age/fat and long lay off/being a bit s*** as it turns out. But on paper a decent run. Credit where it's due and I'm no Wilder fan...
Agreed. He's both overrated and overhated here. And his last 3 opponents have been on par or better than AJs and Fury
Yup. Some of us always knew it, light-hiting Fury proved it. Shattered that fragile mandible!!!!!!!!!!
