This would have been terrible. After Dempsey had been retired for ten years ? George Foreman was a big exception to the rule. Braddock easily outpoints jack in this one.

True. With Foreman it was one big punch that pulled it off.

dempsey was about as active during this period as Foreman was prior to the Moorer fight. Dempsey had hundreds of "exhibitions" throughout the 1930's right up to 1940 at age 45 where he was knocking guys out for real, sure they were 3 rounders but it was every night. Many would have been as competative as 80% of the fights Foreman was having before the Holyfeild shot.

Dempsey was way too slow by this point, and Braddock had an iron chin, so it's not even like if Dempsey just landed a couple clean shots he could win.

Honestly I think he has almost no chance.

Yeah Dempsey would not deserve a shot.

However, if he had completed 10 easy wins at a much lower level to help tune him up. and he was kept away from fighting any real contenders, he could quite easily have become an undeserving challenger. Who knows? If he got lucky, he might have a punchers chance.

I think Braddock was a bit of a feeble champion. He was practically done by the time he got to the championship. He was brave and determined enough to always go down fighting. But I don’t think there really ever any mileage in Bradock having any kind of reign. He did well to do what he did after so long as a journeyman.

Dempsey was shot against Tunney in the second bout. And he was well conditioned for it.

    Braddock wins very wide.

    Prime Dempsey destroys him.

Foreman had 32 fights over 7 years before he faced Moorer.
Foreman wasn't ranked when he beat Moorer in 94 ,but he had been in 90 [10] 91[6] 92[6]
Braddock would have beaten Dempsey comfortably by 1937 imo.

Wow, it didn’t seem as much as that at the time. Probably because George was so inactive between losing to Holyfield and facing Moorer.

I just checked his record, from January 1993 until November 1994 George Fought just once and lost. And that is how he got a crack at the title. He had not had a win for 22 months!

Within that period Lennox Lewis beat Tony Tucker and Frank Bruno And phil JAckson before losing to Oliver Mccall. Also within these 22 months Bowe beat Jesse Ferguson, Michael Dokes, lost to Holyfield Fought Mathis Junior and beat Larry Donald just weeks after George beat Moorer.

Within weeks of winning the title George showed no interest in fighting Riddick Bowe.

    Braddock wins, likely by KO.

A bridge way too far for old Jack.

He was basically going to lose to the next top contender than he fought.

Even on that basis, he would have been too much for Dempsey at this time.

Braddock was better than most people think.

Braddock was a bridge to far for the shot Dempsey.
