Wilder may be the most devastating HW puncher ever...certainly comparable to Tyson or Dempsey

Maybe. Shame there’s no way to tell, after his 40ish fights.

Agree with the first part, there’s no one out there right now with a decent button to test his power, even if he got in the ring with said fighter.

The later part tho... don’t think it’s so freakish. He literally trains to deliver 1 punch and 1 punch only while fighting guys who are asking to be KO’d.
Fury went down in a spectacular fashion so there’s one brownie point for Wilder there but still not convinced.

My comparison to Dempsey and Tyson was more about how he finishes people than to do with one punch power comparison

Wilder is a tremendous puncher no doubt about it. His power is the kind that people will be talking about for years to come. I think he Ko’s AJ and loses to Fury... stylistically Fury is just a power punchers foil. In the rematch Fury will be on point the whole fight and avoid playing.

"It's hard to say [if Wilder is the biggest puncher] of all-time. Joe Louis was the biggest knuckle-cruncher there is. Wilder is developing that kind of power. He's hitting a lot harder than I did with the right hand - that's for certain."
    -George Foreman

No real argument here either way, just an interesting article.

…...or Leroy Caldwell who fought Shavers and Foreman and said Shavers hit harder by far , by far than Foreman. Geez! or Norton who said Shavers punched harder, or Ali who fought them all ,what'd he say? Shavers was the hardest puncher he ever faced.

P.S. sometimes the hardest puncher gets beat, that doesn't mean they're not the hardest puncher

Wilder has had three competitive fights, first one took a decision, went life and death in the second and lost the third. Duhaupas also took all his shots. Where is the monster puncher?

Wilders level of competition is still better than that of Alezander Usyk, who has already been crowned greatest cruiserweight ever by about 90% of this forum

Joshua and Wilder have similar KO ratio but compare KO/rounds instead Joshua in the lead.

Joshua doesnt need to punch jumping in with his whole body like Wilder. Just look at the Martin fight. Simple counter right cross. That's real power not needing to compensate with his whole body in motion.

People who cant wrap their mind's around the concept that 1 guy can hit harder than the other even though he's a worse boxer have obviously never boxed.

I know plenty of guys who were monsters on the heavy bag and looked devastating against lesser opposition. But against someone who knew what they were doing they looked like amateurs. It happens.

It's like a basketball team where you have a guy like blake griffin whose amazing at dunking but until recently he wasnt well rounded and that was all he could do. He might beat kevin durant in a dunk contest but he'd get completely smoked in a 1 vs 1 game where all other shots are allowed.

Its the same thing with guys like shavers, Ruddock, etc. Put all their exp points in just 1 stat.
