He is an insufferable boorish clown. All the screaming, talking about himself in the third person.
Tyson was really popular early in his career because he at least acted like a nice kid.
But Wilder is a jerk and now he wants to be a murderer.
Wilder is his own worst enemy.

i think he is trying to get hated. using the wrestling bad guy strategy, like Ali did. as a boxer he can only get so popular here anymore anyways.

Ali was funny and wildly popular. Wilder is just a loud mouth jerk. He has impressive power but most people just want to see someone take him out.

Ya I expect him to gain in popularity for as long as his KOs continue.

That being said his latest ratings were not all that impressive... would have thought theyd be a bit more.

Same could be said of Floyd. He was a household name across the world.

Course Wilder can get more popular. He could end up huge if the stars align.

He will continue to get popular as he continues to put people to sleep in devastating fashion, given how many people tuned in for the last fight, and the one against Fury... the crowd were given AMPLE entertainment.

If he knocks out Joshua, his popularity will soar through the roof, and he will become an ATG.

Just watching back the crowd reaction when he KOed Breazeale sums it up, the crowd got their monies worth. Everyone was shocked and impressed.

You clearly weren't around for the Tyson era. Tyson was popular because he was a f@%king savage in the ring and out of it. He was the baddest dude on the planet and it wasn't a schtick. He was what he was.

Until Wilder grows a pair and faces the man (AJ), he is just another side champion with a trinket.

If wants to become really big then he needs to fight AJ and win.

Yes, he will. If he keeps winning, of course. He's following the Mayweather blueprint. Wilder has an experienced team around him. They know that a hater is the most devoted fan.

Yep, as long as he keeps putting opponents to sleep.

Is there a problem if he becomes more popular?

Mike Tyson was and is synonymous with savagery and his name is and was known to just about everyone, boxing fan or no.Floyd Mayweather as successful as he was, never became known to everyone like Tyson or Ali was.
Not sure it's even possible to become so well known now?Tiger Woods has the same thing going on as Tyson where their names effectively stand for the sport they excelled at,kinda like someone saying "he thinks he Tiger Woods" after playing crazy golf.Or "getting in a fight with the Mrs is like going twelve rounds with Mike Tyson"

The problem with wilder is he has no real charm, and he lacks self awareness. As said, he isn’t funny either, in fact I have never seen him say one funny thing. Guys like Ali and even Tyson, could make a violent remark amusing in some way.

Of the big three, fury beats both wilder and AJ in the charisma stake because he is pretty funny. He can run rings around them verbally. AJ has at least a bit of charisma but he is not funny either, unfunny people tend to get ripped into by those that are naturally funny. Fury enjoys the pressers like Ali did, whereas wilder and AJ woundnt enjoy them when confronted by a guy with natural wit.
