I know it’s not customary to take Foreman’s opinion as gospel, but this is still interesting: "He hit [Breazeale] so hard, like we did back in the day. He hit him so hard that I ran and went under my bed. My wife asked me 'where are you going' and I said 'I don't want him to come after me.' That's a puncher, a real live puncher," Foreman told TMZ "It's hard to say [if Wilder is the biggest puncher] of all-time. Joe Louis was the biggest knuckle-cruncher there is. Wilder is developing that kind of power. He's hitting a lot harder than I did with the right hand - that's for certain. "In my day, with that right hand that he throws - I've never seen that before. That right hand is powerful, and he could have probably knocked out anyone at any time in the heavyweight division - it don't matter if it was George Foreman, Mike Tyson Joe Frazier, anyone could have gotten it from him.
He always is. He almost goes overboard in a way where it sounds like he is being a little condescending.
Foreman seems to say what his audience wants to hear. For example when he visits the UK, he always hypes the top British fighter of the day, whether it is somebody like Lennox Lewis, or somebody like Audley Harrison.
Ranking punchers you have to rank chins then in an instance like this ? Does Breazeale have the best chin in history bc he got up and was going to continue( though he couldn't have ) ? There's many crunching punchers today. Past time puncher s isn't something magical, all eras get them....this one there's just a lot more of them. Joshua ( Breazeale didn't get up in that one ) Sirenko arguably hardest looking puncher. Joyce Izu Breazeale Ajagba DDD Conto Mahgmoduv Morrison All these guys are huge punchers at top or coming up. Wilder and Joshua aren't the only notable punchers out there. Whyte, Parker, Gorman, Kownacki, Martin , Ortiz and Ruiz are also very strong puncher s when they hit you right. The era is littered with them.
Foreman once said that Lou Savarese was the hardest puncher he ever faced. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
Sirenko the hardest looking puncher? Not over Ajaba or Makhmudov I do agree there are lots of up and coming big guys who can box and punch. Wilder, Fury and Joshua do not seem to want any of them. At his point Wilder is what he is. A gifted log armed puncher with speed who doesn't want to fight top competition aside from Fury who schooled him. PS: I would not even put Breazeale high on the list of punchers. Enough of Breazeale. He's the Jose King Roman of these times. Best know for a KO 1 loss.
Amazing. Ron Lyle must have hit George so hard that in his latter years he hallucinated that Ron had turned into Lou Savarese when recalling their slugging match.
That's exactly right, he trying to be most appealing to who ever is listening at the time. He could be very insightful, but more times than not he's just saying what will be most appealing in a positive manner. To the point of Wilder's power though, I do think he's proving himself to be worthy of mention amongst the hardest punchers. People can question his chin, composure, overall skill as a fighter at the top level, but his power has proven to be a major problem for everyone he's fought. I really do think he belongs in the same mention as Louis, Marciano, Dempsey, Foreman, Shavers, Lewis, Wlad, and Tyson when it comes to pure power.
George has told story after story over the years .. he's an eccentric, animated character .. that said Wilder likely hits harder than George with a straight or overhand right .. George's power was far more in his hooks and uppercuts ..
