Seems everyone falls victim to highlight reel kOs they never see coming, often times from unnatural angles..

Is wilder a master of this unique skill even more so than he is a sledgehammer puncher?

Yes He is, if he was 6'3" with the same power he'd not be as successful

yes. it happens in the lower weights too, people underestimate distance a punch can cover. usually it happens when a fighter is moving straight back, he pulls back to what he thinks is too far, and gets caught by an adjustment in range. stepping forward at full punch extension, wilder can cover almost 10'. and hes fast with it, catches you being lazy.

His success is based on range first , speed second , power 3rd.

The first two set up the power shots.

Wilder doesnt hit harder than AJ in my opinion.

But he puts his whole body in forward momentum thus generating more punch power. Also he aims and lands with forearms behind the ears due to aggressivenes.

On a punch machine with similar effort im sure AJ would come out on top.

    Please...

What is range? Upper & lower body in tune, working behind a jab & controlling the pace & distance? It’s about finding an interval that fits with your fighting rhythm & keeping an opponent at bay...

The first time he fought a guy who could genuinely pose angles, move in & out of range, possessed versatile feet etc he was lost! It will be even worse second time round... Fury moved in & out of range at will..

He's just lucky he has freak power & athleticism to bail him out against podgy bread salesmen & old Cuban turtles... His best win is Ortiz, who's about 50, has beat no one of note & had a stand in just in case he had a stroke...

Wilder has poor centre of gravity. Is sloppy & throws winging shots that almost topple himself.. That's not control! Anyone can look good chinning mediocre quarterbacks like breazeale..

Combination of 3 things. Speed, power and range. Hes a big tall guy with nice long arms, the power is just disgusting in that right hand and he is fast with it too against usually slower opposition. I dont agree that he throws from unnatural angles unless hes gone on full blown windmill mode and those do but they never even get close to landing, he aint no Prince Naseem Hamed, but he counters very fast and that gives the impression hes coming from fancy angles.

Just imagine how good he would of been had he actually been a Boxer with some good solid fundamentals and a bit of a rounded game. But there is your problem, his lack of all round skills is what gives him no more than a punchers chance against anybody good. If it wasnt for that combination of 3 things Wilder would be well and truly nobody in this division other than a club level bum slayer that nobody had heard of. Cuz that right hand is all he has, ive seen so many average or below average fighters outbox Wilder but he ends up knocking them out. But since hes been fighting top 15 guys in the last couple of years hes been outboxed, rocked, wobbled, close to getting knocked out and scraped a questionable draw to keep that belt.

But with that combination it does make him a very dangerous threat to anybody no matter how much better a Boxer they may be.

Yes and it's great he has mobile legs. A king Croc has thin legs but very fast and can climb fences in seconds. I've seen it with my own eyes in the deep South. :eeeeek:

Exactly. Wilder knocks out yet another scrub and now he's the second coming of Earnie Shavers. He's a FRAUD with a manufactured record designed to create just the hype that we are seeing from modern boxing fans. His poor punch resistance will be brutally exposed as soon as he faces a prime top level HW.

The myth of strength and size debunked once again. Keep doing the arm curls bodybuilder Joshua. You big stiff cumbersome protein shake freak! Deontay's speed generates that 1 punch power, that Joshua can only dream of. Stuck in that over built muscle bound body!

Wilder is more of a flash KO artist, most people get up about 10 seconds later with little cognative awareness. His ability to find that punch is phenomenal.
Trouble is, as Fury proved, he doesn't seem to be as concusive as most believe. Even Breazeale was on his feet at 10.
That to me is someone floored, not knocked out.

I promise I will warm to Wilder if he steps up. Non of this Ortiz II wimpy ducking crap.
Wilder should be on top of the world right now but no... Invites Ortiz into the ring...
FFS when Whyte bum rushed AJ's party last time out AJ told Whyte to shut up and that he wanted Wilder.... What does Wilder do???? Erm, Erm, yeh Ortiz II.... pathetic

I predict an anouncement from Finkel and co after the AJ/Ruiz fight saying "things weren't right with the unification deal, its all hearns fault, we fighting the real boogeyman Ortiz"....
And I will go back to slagging off Wilder at every turn.
Step up Wilder bro, no more hiding.

Ortiz wants to face Wilders right hand again rather than AJ for twice as much money atleast.

    Speaks volumes dont you think??

The range is a factor, he throws the right hand with a weird but fast two step move and over commits.. so when he lands, it comes from a mile away and it hurts. Like Stiverne II.
