That`s because they keep paying for these shitty PPV fights, if punters didn`t pay for these fights they couldn`t make money from them and they`d be forced to make better fights.

As Paddy says, the only way to stop it is to be discerning with what you buy.

I usually fall into the bracket of buying PPV's because I just love to watch boxing, even if I think that matchup is weak, it gets to Saturday, I wanna watch boxing, so I buy it. Now, I'm just a drop in the ocean, but collectively it could have an effect.

I will not be paying PPV for Joshua-Miller, and will not be paying for any PPV that involves any of the Top 3 until they fight each other. Any fight other than any combination of those 3 does not interest me in any way, shape or form. It does mean that I'll miss out on undercards that I would like to watch ( although they turn up on TV a little later, it's still not the same as watching live ), and in isolation, although I save a few quid, it's just me depriving myself of my favourite sport to watch. However, collectively, it could make a difference.

Realistically speaking though, given that 99% ( yes, I know that figure is pulled out of my ass! ) of PPV is made up of people who only watch big fights and couldn't care less about the machinations behind the scenes, nothing will change, and rich guys will just line their pockets until they feel they have enough, or have stretched the patience of the wider public to breaking point, to bother fighting each other. And given they had a near combined age of 80, Pac-Mayweather showed that no matter how many people say enough's enough, you can still drag it for years and people will pay in their droves when it happens. I don't think you can understate how bad Pac-May was for boxing on a wider scale, even if, on it's own merits, it was an amazing success money wise.

I second that. Wilder himself started justifying the Ortiz rematch by saying that fights against Ortiz, Fury and Joshua would happen in succession, one after the other. In reality he's just trying to make this shit fight more digestable to boxing fans by adding Fury's and AJ's names in the mix, damage control to push them away from hating on the Ortiz remach.

Kownacki isn't a bad match-up. He's top 10 and comes to fight. There's isn't any room for an Ortiz rematch however , there's too many other guys above him who are more worthy of a title shot.

I have no doubt that he's attempting to stretch his "reign" and it is slight of hand and some damage control mixed in.
