Good post Mendoza!! But I might still say that judges tend to skew towards an attacker...and...I'd love to see the total number of draws & split decisions given 'pure' counterpunchers over the decades. How many draws did Jerry have in his career? 4? 5? Young-Norton comes to mind. Most go back and forth on that one but IMHO Jimmy copped that sucker! My $0.02
On judging, I think fans, in general, do not understand that its not a television view vantage point. It's a person in a chair on one of the three sides of the ring. A defensive counter guy lands clearly on TV just about every time but could be missed depending on the judge's vantage point. The volume punchers who throw and land more have the edge over the counter puncher who lands less but cleanly. I think a round should be given to the guy who lands more often with the exception being if the guy who landed less hurt him, or floored him. Lately, the judging has been bad. If I had my way, it would be 5 judges. One for each side of the ring, plus a TV judge with no audio, with the judges being pulled by a random draw 48 hours before the fight and not picked by the commission.
