It was very boring. The Pulis comparison works. Pulis Stoke winning at Arsenal 1-0 with three shots on target in the whole match may be an effective, tactical, well deserved win. But show it to someone who's never seen a match before and they will think football is terrible.

If we're calling it a schooling then any underdog win is a schooling. Fury landed about a dozen more shots. Doesn't it hold the record for heavyweight title fight with the fewest punches landed or something mad like that? A schooling for me is Floyd Canelo, Calzaghe Lacy, Hopkins Pavlik; basically one guy looking like he eternally will be considered better than the other.

This is what I was going to say. Wlad was bamboozled, that's a schooling in my book.
Tony does raise a point that I do understand.
To the casuals it was damn boring

Where did you get that information Tony? Never heard it myself.

It was a schooling because the attack of one of the greatest heavyweight champions of all time, Wladimir Klitschko, was completely immobilized. Nobody before or after Tyson Fury done anything like that to Wladimir Klitschko.

It wasn't close because Fury clearly landed more punches than Wladimir in most of the rounds. Not an abundance more, but enough to win the rounds clearly. Clear UD, no controversy whatsoever.

It may not have been an entertaining fight for some. Fury's style may not be to the taste of all. However, that doesn't take away from the fact that Wladimir Klitschko was taken to school in Dusseldorf, completely immobilized and widely outpointed. Fury was barely touched all night, Wladimir was busted up.

Was a total schooling. Have a look at Wlad’s face after the fight. Poor guy for absolutely battered by the Gypsy King.

Tyson schooled Wlad in the ring and Big John Fury, Big Peter Fury and fat Mick schooled Bonte and the rest of Team Wlad out of the ring.

They got well and truly rodgered by the Brits.

The two knockdowns aside, was Wilder v Fury really that much different, apart from Fury actually taking it Wilder at points ie. after the second knockdown where he completely nullified the threat that Wilder possessed by going for it.

It was somewhere in between. Fury was a clear winner without it being one sided.

I've also said several times that Wilder/Fury wasn't a schooling. IMO a schooling doesn't include any knockdowns. That's the difference between the Wilder and Wlad fights. He outboxed Wilder, yes, but not a schooling.

Comparing Tyson Fury’s win to a Stoke team managed by Pulis grabbing a 1-0 win at Arsenal is an inaccurate analogy. It suggests that Tyson Fury is a limited fighter, who was out of his depth in terms of levels but who defended for dear life. When in fact, Fury is also an elite level boxer.

I accept that it wasn’t entertaining to the casual fan, but if you know your boxing, it was a performance which epitomised ‘control’. Fury constantly feinted...he knew Klitschko always set himself when he threw shots, by feinting he never allowed Klitschko to set himself, the subtle footwork, jab and switching stances added to this. Through feinting, footwork, clinching when necessary and switching stances he was able to control Klitschko’s rhythm and befuddle him. It was ring generalship at its very best. He threw more shots than Klitschko, evaded most of the very few shots Klitschko threw so in the judges eyes he ticked boxes on ring generalship, defence, effective aggression and hard/clean shots.

Whether he schooled him or not is subjective. I believe you think of schooling in terms of frequency of shots thrown/landed which is understandable, a bit like a football team winning 6-0...you believe it’s an exhibition of attacking flair. Some people also like the 1-0, totally nullifying the opposition, not letting them touch the ball, frustrating them and exhibiting total control. Truth is, I would describe both of these as schooling’s. I’m like you, I like the 6-0 better but I’m happy to doff my cap to a 1-0 nullification of an elite opponent.

Sorry for rambling on, can’t sleep.

It was a convincing win UD in boxing terms

But it wasn’t a schooling or dominant victory

    Wlad didn’t turn up.

We can see that a big part of that was the Hayden P car crash affecting his mental state , plus the fact he was over the hill as a boxer.

Boxing can be frustrating because more often than not you only fight opponents once or twice. Therefore there's not much room for an off night.

I think the way the first fight went it really needed a rematch. Shame it'll never happen but a true champion would have been desperate to prove it wasn't a fluke.

The only reason I would consider it more of a schooling than other fights is because of the location, what happened before the fight and who he was fighting. He literally beat Wlad at his own game.

    I'd say that's a step beyond a schooling. More of a pummeling

I suppose 'schooling' is the sort of performance that in my book isn't just a convincing win, but leaves you in absolutely no doubt that on their best day, the guy who won would pretty much always win.

Calzaghe Lacy, Hopkins Pavlik, Mayweather Canelo. I just think those fights were so one sided and so dominant, literally cases of a guy being beaten so badly he looked like he just wanted to give up, that they left no doubt in my mind. I didn't get that with Fury Klitschko. Even after the final bell Fury was asking people if they thought he'd done enough and the bookies still had Wlad favourite. Ringside commentators were doing the sort of 'maybe he's done enough' lines.

Nobody was wondering if Calzaghe had done enough against Lacy.

When fury threw it was generally accurate. His jab and feints were excellent

If they ‘just made funny faces’, why the hell was klitschko so busted up?

    Fury didn’t have a mark.
