Joe gives him a Chuvalo type beat down. Max liked some room to operate. Joe would not oblige. And Max telegraphed, telephoned and telegrammed every punch. Joe would pick up on every tell.

The discredit towards Joe gets worse by the day if you see Baer on par with Foreman in a fighting respect you have no dignity, Maxxie boy was a white Wilder or well Wilder is a black Max baer.

At any age do you see Fraizer getting outboxed by the Cinderella man? Joe still holds the mantle for most underrated heavyweight and it's God awful disrespect to a Legend.

The short sell on Frazier continues to amaze me. He holds the greatest victory in the history of the division. He was the best active heavy for 5 or 6 years. Given his style and physical assets, that's amazing.

I thought the best win was Dempsey's victory over Bill Brennan.

Maybe you're the one who is disrespectful toward Baer and Braddock and your emphasis on race lacks any dignity at all.

Frazier was all business in the ring Max was not. Frazier chops him down in a fairly one sided fight with max having a punchers chance

Frazier would beat the hell out of Baer. Joe stops him after making him look like an amateur sharing the ring with him.

Your take: "Baer would pull a Foreman on the shorter, one dimensional, vulnerable-to-rights Frazier."

If Frazier was one-dimensional, Baer was none-dimensional.

The only thing Foreman and Baer have in common: they both hit hard. Other than that, Foreman was a much better fighter than Baer. It's not even close.

Frazier wasn't vulnerable to right hands, unless you mean the right uppercut. Even then Frazier used a pretty good cross-armed guard. Not everyone could catch Frazier. Baer's best punch was his overhand right. It was very powerful. But how many fighters landed overhand rights against Frazier? Ali had a snappy right hand that was 2x faster than Baer's jab. And it was straight. Bonavena dropped him with a right hand counter in the 2nd round. A straight right. That was a 22 year old Frazier with 11 fights. Fast forward to 1970 when Frazier fought Ellis. Ellis was much faster than Baer and a better boxer too. How many right hands did he land? Ellis had a good right hand but he could hardly score. You can tell how much Frazier improved over two years when you watch Bonavena I and II. Bonavena had gotten better as well. He was ranked #3. Frazier beat him decisively. Saying Frazier was vulnerable to right hands is not true. He got hit with right hands like every other fighter. And Ali landed right hands on everyone.

To say that Frazier was vulnerable to a certain punch implies he had some sort of flaw in his defence that could be easily exploited. I don't see that. Maybe with the uppercuts. He was more vulnerable to uppercuts than straight rights. He was as vulnerable to an uppercut as Ali was to a left hook. Doesn't mean everyone dropped Ali with a left hook. It took a special fighter to consistently exploit that weakness. Foreman had it easy because Frazier had to come to him. Foreman set him up with like a dozen hooks and finally landed a short, sweet uppercut. Only one person consistently landed straight right hands on Frazier and that was Ali. Possibly the best right hand in heavyweight history. Not talking about power.

Another thing about uppercuts is you gotta be in close range to land them. When Foreman threw uppercuts against Frazier, they were short and compact. When Ali tried them, they were wide and telegraphed and he ate left hooks for his trouble. You can't give Frazier any openings in close range. He will knock your head off with his left hook. One-dimensional but a hell of a dimension.

Baer doesn't have the speed nor the skillset to trouble Frazier. Frazier would destroy Baer imo. And it isn't just Baer; Carnera, Schmeling, Sharkey can come get some too. Fraziers smokin' all night long.

I don't know that Baer could hit like Foreman. Big George was in rare air when it comes to heavy-handed power. Even if Max was on or near that level he is lacking Foreman's intensity, murderous aggression and the chin to brush off the return fire that would surely be coming.
In short even if you started the fight by giving Max a free shot I still think Joe Frazier has his hand raised. It comes down to one boxer ''wants it' The other 'needs it'.
