There's been a prevailing myth that you need to be 6'5 + and 250lbs to be a top fighter at Heavyweight, Ruiz has just defecated all over that theory. We just saw Ruiz, a natural fighter, beat a top athlete. Amazing night of boxing and one of the moments to remember.

You can beat them maybe, but you need something like handspeed and some mistakes by the big guy. But the bigger guys has all the advantages and if AJ had 45 fights instead of 23 or whatever he had, he would have beaten Ruiz.

I said a long time ago that all you need is a 6`2 230lb skilled guy with quick hands, good chin and power and he`d be able to beat any of these super heavy weights. At this size it doesnt matter how big you are if you get hit by a guy that can punch you will be hurt.

It is, and I have a feeling Kownacki may also be a similar banana skin for Wilder. Being a natural fighter trumps being a good athlete regardless of size.

no, the trend for the cream of the crop has for the most part been guys in excess of 6'5. this doesn't say anything to the contrary other than it's not an impossibility that a small guy can win, which no one was saying anyway,.

It does kind of poke a bit of a capsizing-threatening hole when a SHW unified champion that has laid waste to many ranked contenders is exposed by a small tubby man, actually.

yeah but not to the extent it becomes a myth. that's a bold claim. now if fury, wilder , pulev and company start getting exposed, sure. but the trend hasn't been established from one match.

There's literally been conversations regarding this, with many stating the minimum is 6'4 230lbs to be taken seriously.

Trend no, but the monolithic theory of automatic super heavyweight supremacy at the elite level - which is what I believe is being called the debunked myth - can be and has been falsified in one night.

The funny thing is that there was never any evidence to support the SHW myth. The better man will find a way to win regardless of size.
