I would not be surprised if Ruiz gets a Fury done on him with unrealistic demands leading to one or more belts becoming vacant.

 

I don’t see team AJ taking the rematch personally. Two brutal ko defeats on the bounce to a tubby little Mexican - the second on home turf, would be the end of product AJ.

They’ll duck it IMO and Hearn will spin the narrative in the media “they didn’t want it koogs, what more can I do???” and the target market will presumably parrot the narrative verbatim.

Then presumably the belts get splintered , chinny robot beats up on shot old delboy war chisora / red hot Dave Allen level of opponent before taking on shot old midget kubrat pulev for some ibf trinket

Meanwhile the top three continue to face each other and the tubby Mexican...? Where does that guy go? Fury and wilder will be licking their lips and I’d imagine will have been on the phone already

I doubt ruiz would avoid the rematch. 25-50 million will buy 100 lifetimes' supply of tacos and coronas.

 

I know what you mean, mate. I think the way they should be looking at it though is that Joshua is only 29 & has several years left career wise. There will be the opportunity for a shot at the belts anytime because of the wedge he brings to the table. If I was McCracken now, I would be telling him to slow things down, sharpen the tools on a couple of half decent heavyweights because I don’t believe he’s had the same learning trajectory as many other heavyweights. The opportunity to win world titles came up prematurely imo but obviously he had to go for it. Ideally, he could probably have done with a few more learning fights. Just my opinion, I’m probably wrong but I just think the Fury’s, Wilder’s, Klitschko’s benefitted a little more from having a few more fights before they went for a world title/s.

I don't know how you draw that conclusion after the fight.

 

tbh mate now I've thought about it they might go the way you said because the rematch might not even be guaranteed to be in the u.k, and after that performance its certainly not a gimme Joshua wins.He would no doubt get slaughtered by everyone if he does go down that road though.Be interesting how it plays out.

 

I think there is an argument he is. He’s certainly better than Ruiz. Had he not been stupid and turned it into a slugfest when Ruiz was down and rather been patient he’d still be ranked number one. (Though I’ve always said I think Fury beats him)

He's still in the top three and has a higher quality of opponent ratio compared to any other active heavyweight in the division, with the exception of Chisora, who many seem to forget just who he's been in with.

Ruiz wouldn't land a shot on Fury and Wilder would knock him out inside 3 rounds. Ruiz is so easy to hit.
