Your quotations of the old time writers when they fit your opinion. And your ficitional accounts of the speed, skill, and athleticism of Ruiz, Klitscchko, Lewis etc... Or almost any boxer passed the 1980s.
Do you even follow boxing today or is it all pre-1960? Ruiz is known for one thing... Fast hands. If any of you guys who saw him for the first time last night had followed him over the past 6 years you would know that. Nothing fictional about it. Marciano was known for s l o w hands. Even according to Whitey. Trying to refashion those two facts into the opposite is fictionalization, not how I am presenting it. And by the way, if you don't like the excerpts or quotes I present, please bring some contemporary accounts to the opposite. I'm all ears.
I follow the sport, just because I'm not fooled by a turtle being the fastest among other turtles doesnt mean I dont. Just because a group thinks something, and you agree with it doesnt make it a fact. Far from it. Ive known of Ruiz for a few years now and always disagreed with people who talked about his fast hands. It’s not hard to look fast when your opponents aren’t either. Also, I love your quotes and information you and others share on the board. I just dont need the opinion from some writer from whenever to tell me how highly or not highlyly I should rate a fighter I can see with my own eyes.
Not a chance in hell that Ruiz was faster than Marciano. Unless we're going by watered down overly simplistic Bert Sugarisms
Ruiz beat a guy who was trying to box and doing a poor job of boxing, not against a slugger who does a world class job of slugging as Marciano would be... I was expecting to see Joshua's right uppercut make an appearance at some point, but never did.... It may have bailed him out. Just overcome and over thinking due to the pressure I suspect. I suspect Ruiz would do well against Rocky, at least for a time. I don't see Ruiz as so much a power puncher but as a guy who turns up those hands when he sees fit. I can envision scenarios where either guy wins. Its easy to forget when looking at him that hes a guy with a solid chin, good gas tank, and good hands.... And being 270lbs doesn't hurt either.... Hes a fighter. He doesn't have to look pretty.
Dude he was tired by the 4th round, c'mon A good gas tank for 268lbs I guess? But not a good gas tank
This is just ludicrous. Go down to your gym and ask your trainer. Even Joshua himself was worried about Ruiz' hand speed and combinations, and for good reason. And who ever commented on Marciano's marvelous speed in his own day or any day up until when this board full bore delusional?
He had enough gas in the 6th and 7th to turn it up... That proved to be more than Joshua had and adequate to finish the fight. Had they let Joshua continue it would have only gotten worse for him. That guy played it smart and used his energy wisely.
Because he used the 4th and 5th rounds as rest I define a good gas tank as something a lil more than that. Or perhaps my standards are too high because I'm a "rockista"
Well there are levels above "good" and I was careful to word it that way. He was smart with his output and that says alot to me. I don't know what a "rockista" is, but perhaps they are hahaha
