First off let me start by saying congrats to Andy on a great performance and victory. Andy should just find a way out of the rematch because it will be in the UK where AJ will be allowed to have his personal ref who will let him do a Wlad special which AJ with his long reach will simply grab hold and lean on Ruiz anytime he tries to get inside. The ref won't take any points away and AJ will win a decision with the help of bought off judges. Lets be honest as great of a story this is, Ruiz with his physique isn't what everyone pictures when they see the HW champ of the world he was already down on one judges cards in this fight against AJ FFS. The powers that be be will do everything to ensure a AJ victory in the rematch. Andy needs to either find a way out of this rematch or demand that it's in the US with the same ref who was for the first fight. Even then he might not get a fair shake. Andy upset a lot of people and made them miss out on a lot of money the powers that be will not take this lying down.
I agree. The powers that be do NOT want Ruiz to defeat Joshua or be the HW champion. Joshua hooked with a hooker and get smashed on the back/side of the head. And he never got his legs back after that. Then it was Ruiz landing combos until Joshua couldn't continue. No way Ruiz can win a decision. He would have to knock Joshua down 8 or 9 times to win a decision.
It was AJ going to Ruiz and not the other way round. Ruiz just has to stand there and trade whenever AJ initiates the trade. The ref can't penalise Andy just for responding to a punch lol. *AJ throws a punch* *Ruiz answers.... woop he is stopped by the referee for an illegal counterpunch*
I've seen guys go in for a power hug 20 times a round and the ref does nothing. Some guys initiate and get away with everything.
Yea, he won't get a fair shake on the cards no doubt. Hell in their fight the cards were already doctored at the time the fight was stopped. It'd be so much worse in the UK.
I saw a fight in UK with a guy named Martin Rogan. So, Rogan landed a big punch and hurt his opponent. The opponent spit out his mouthpiece and didn't want to continue. Ref made him pick up the mouthpiece and told him to keep fighting. The guy put the mouthpiece back walked towards Rogan threw a weak shot and the ref stopped the fight and awarded Rogan's opponent with a TKO victory.
A rematch in the UK would be a homage to fights like Wlad vs Povetkin, Okolie vs Askin, Lewis vs McCall 2, Joshua vs Parker...
I have to admit, I've seen that **** happen on rare occasions. It's frightening to think about it, i mean how do you hold the referee accountable... can the result be overturned?
