I know AJ's chin has been suspect but after watching the first knockdown you can see he gets hit on the side of his head. As most know sometimes getting hit there scrambles the brain which is hard to recover from. Many boxers have been stopped in this way. Also am i the only one that didn't think AJ was right from the ring walk onwards? Rather than a rematch i'd love to see Ruiz fight Fury or Wilder next i believe his fight in close style could cause them problems.
I think Wilder and Fury beat Ruiz comfortably although I've seen plenty on the General forum backing Ruiz. Tyson unlike AJ uses his jab, head movement and footwork expertly against smaller guys. He'd destroy Ruiz and stop him IMO, a sustained beating. Wilder would launch a right hand from range and spark out Andy IMO. I can see Andy being way more conservative against Wilder because Wilder is more gung-ho than AJ. I see that as a 70-30 fight in Wilder's favour. Parker negated Ruiz really well. I think Wilder and especially Fury have demonstrated themselves to be a level above all of the other Heavyweights.
Joshua looked bewildered in there, as though he couldn't get his head round what was going on. He was beat fair and square, but something didn't seem right.
I just think if he kept behind his jab was cautious and not jump in when Ruiz was hurt he could of got a points win. I mean. I rewatched the parker and AJ if he could fight close to that I cant see how Ruiz get a points win. Something was not right with AJ the deep massages all week also in the ring! And dressing room did he have a injury?
I got hammerd on here for daring to suggest he might have suspect durability. Getting dropped by Wlad and hurt by Whyte doesn't seem so bad...but it was his reluctance to engage VS Parker that got me he really didn't want to punch with JP.. He was worried about something - I think we know now. Ruiz though was able to get inside and used his hand speed - he was much more aggressive than Parker was and AJ didn't handle it. Didn't control range anywhere near enough. That temple shot defo caused a short circuit Fury is great against short guys. Its great being aggressive but Fury would just step off and use the jab all night. Ruiz despite his frame is more agile than he looks but Fury is a pure boxer and his style should be able to offset Ruiz. Fury wont hook with a hooker and hold his feet in punching range. He will jab step off, feint and when ready land something bigger. Than said Ruiz is a player at the top of the pile now and we may see more from him. Ruiz Wilder is real interesting. Ruiz is going to have to get inside Wilder. Risk taking the A bomb of a right hand but in close he takes Wilder to school Fun fight.
He looked out of his depth to me. Even before the fight it seemed he didn't want to be there. He didn't know what to do.
I can't imagine how Ruiz wins a round against Fury. Him vs Wilder would be interesting though. I also think Joshua has the best chance of beating a fully-fit Fury. Lots of interesting combinations, hopefully Saturday is a wake-up call and we actually get to see some of them..
I think a punch on the ear is worse than getting caught bang on the chin. Although it was Ruiz's 3 x body punches in the 6th that really did Joshua in. He was finished after that 6th round after those shots
I think Joshua fought a stupid fight buy I also think either there was something wrong with him going into the ring, I.e a mild concussion from sparring or it was just a freak shot that scrambled his brains. I know previously AJ has taken a while to recover from shots but that left to me did not look as hard as some shots AJ has taken, also after it landed he had almost FIVE whole minutes where ruiz landed basically nothing of note and he still didn't recover. In the past he's usually back to normal after a couple of dodgy minutes. He was honestly acting stoned all night, it was just weird. I am looking forward to the rematch, we know AJ can do better than that.
Muscles don't make you a fighter ! People made the mistake of judging Ruiz Jr by his shape, the guy had over a 100 amateur fights was trained by several top trainers, the casuals and Joshua fan boys thought it would be a walk in the park early KO , WRONG MOTHER ****ERS !
The 2nd KD is the most telling to his mindset imo. If you watch as Ruiz is throwing Joshua looks to the ref for help.
The shot to the temple, Joshua turned into with full power having thrown a wild hook, so it wasn’t just the force from the punch Ruiz threw but also the force generated by Joshua’s rotation... The wild trading reminded of Dubois slugging it out with Lartey...that was needless and stupid too but Dubois is almost ten years younger and far less experienced.
