Ive been saying this forever and been mocked, watch the Parker fight, he was not impressive, he was very poor against Povetkin and did not use his jab and move, he got into a crouch and brought his head down into range, he covered up in that crouch instead of standing tall out of range behind his jab, same again against Ruiz. Once he got hit he just fell apart like Wladimir used to. Probem for Joshua is there is no Mnny Steward to fix his style, he also doesnt have the instincts to dig in and fight. This was Joshua`s Mercer fight. Lewis was hit and hurt by Mercer but dug in and had fighting instincts. Joshua has what Bruno had, what Micheal Grant had and I cant see him coming back for long without being exposed again. No chance against Wilder.

This, to control distance the jab itself is only half the equation, you need to move after throwing the jab and we all know Joshua doesn't move enough and often finds himself throwing and then standing there to be hit.

It's why Povetkin was able to dart in and out and tag him at times, despite Joshua's huge reach advantage.

This was basically like standing in front of Tua, if you jab and move with that extra height then you can stay out of trouble, Joshua has never shown footwork and doesnt Jab, he just needs to watch Lewis vs Tua fight for his rematch fightplan.

Discipline is the wrong word. It's craft, or better known as ring IQ.
You made a good point about copying someone. We have seen a vast amount of fighters copy Floyd, but barely any of them know what they are actually doing.

A really good and simple breakdown on why Wlad's jab was so effective.

Joshua has mastered the basic jab that gets drilled into amateurs in the gym.

Freddie would be good to polish up Joshua's offence but has been known to neglect effective defence at times.

Stop trying to fix AJ's jab. We want him smashed.

Klitschko would miss well over half of the jabs he threw.

    Look at the stats -

380 jabs were thrown at Sam Peter , only 129 of them landed. Sam Peter has no head movement and plods forward in a straight line. Watch the fight. Klitschko clinched and held more than he landed jabs.

Against David Haye - 376 thrown , only 105 landed. Deducted a point for excessive holding late in the fight

Tony Thompson - 166 thrown , 36 landed. Thompson actually out jabbed him wit 57 jabs landed.

This trend goes on and on.

WK was a clinch master , not a jab master. Wlad stopping guys in their tracks with jabs is a total myth.

Joshua had a jab in previous fights , he also had a tight guard. Maybe he will have a better jab and defense for the rematch.

On the other hand Yoruboid people are the most influential population in Southern Nigeria, genetically closely related to the Proto-Bantu tribes that stormed Central Africa in the last Millenia reaching the friendly coasts of the Indian ocean, where they landed into the hands of merchants who signed them lucrative lifelong contracts.

This video shows Joshua doing the same thing, against a better opponent.

I agree the cross training has ruined his biomechanics, which results in poor distance judgement and therefore a poor jab as well as rest.

    He needs a complete overhaul

Ditch his trainer/team and move on and learn from someone else.

He wont do it though, hes too loyal

For me though, he was a better fight 3-4 years ago when he was more raw, he seemed to have more agility, movement and power back then, i think hes added bulk and slowed over the last couple of years which isnt surprising given his mass.

According Hearns the rematch is in September, so not much time for AJ to change.
