That left hook of his is wicked. Short or long it's very dangerous. When you throw in his jab and straight hand he's going to be a handful for anyone, and that's before you start talking about his size and reach. Somehow seems to still make the weight well.
SMW is a ridiculously weak division at the moment though. Not sold on him only on a skills ability, no doubt he has power but as soon as someone comes along who can handle his power and is skillful, you'll see him struggle imo because he will run out of ideas like most JG fighters. Still cant dismiss the fact he lost a few rounds and struggled against Skoglund, even with holtzken also. Neither who are near top world class. Yes he stopped Groves but he was starting to lose the fight on a rounds basis, that wasnt exactly a prime Groves either. Would personally like to see him move up and fight the current decent crop of LHWs, think his lack of head movement will expose him when he faces a skillful big hitter.
I think he's the best SMW right now, he's huge for that division and it shows, I think he beats any of the current champions and contenders.
So you refused to give Smith any credit when he destroyed Groves (who was the number one ranked SMW at the time), dispite the fact you was saying prior to the fight that Groves would destroy Smith, yet now your giving Callum credit for destroying a guy you spent 6 pages in this thread saying how much of a mismatch it is and how Smith should be lynched for even fighting him??? How strange.
I just can't win can I? Here I am saying my earlier criticism of Smith might have been a bit harsh and premature. I acknowledge his impressive performance, and you can't just say "fair dues Len you give credit where it's due"..........
Hey twentyman you were very critical of Katie Taylor's interview after the fight. That's not very fair. If you followed Katie's career the know she is very modest and pleasant. I've followed her for years and met her personally and I can assure you you are wrong about Katie. I give your man Munro full credit, so come on now fess up and do the same for Katie!
Sorry Len. Katie is a brilliant boxer, and a great role model. In retrospect, she’s not gonna say she lost.
Thanks twentyman. The only reason I'm even mentioning it is cos I feel your opinion in much respected on here. Or at least it should be anyway. You are a quality poster, a pearl among swine! But actually, Katie would not hesitate to concede it if she genuinely felt she lost. I've seen her do it as an amateur on those rare occasions when she was beaten. I've discussed the fight in the thread about it in some detail but you care to see my opinions on the matter. Congratulations again to mundo, he really impressed me last night.
Thanks bud, appreciated. Just felt sorry for the other girl. Katie showed she can dig deep as she wasn’t allowed to box. Can’t help but feel the other girl should have been warned/deducted points for constant headbutts and forearms. Callum was quality, really relaxed, didn’t beat N’Dam up but just picked his shots. Glad it was stopped when it was.
Boxed well last night with some great shots but it was to be expected against N Dam. Would like to see him take on the other champions before moving up, still think he might struggle with a skilful fighter but with his power is always dangerous.
I think Smith stays at 168 and unify’s, takes on Canelo and becomes the next matchroom superstar. Eddie is going to be keen to keep him at 168 too because of Buatsi.
