I agree with the weight comment. Wlad's conditioning already sucks for the 12 round era. In the 15 round era it'd be way too suspect. He'd have to drop weight and increase roadwork. Might come in at 225 tops. Would be smaller than Carnera and Buddy Baer
Boxing was brutal in the 1930’s compared to now or when Wlad fought and guys were way more experienced back then. I don’t think Wlad would do too well. Refs would regularly call off fights if they thought the guys weren’t putting in enough work and didn’t enforce making fighters go to neutral corners. Also, Wlad’s jab and grab style would get him badly beaten up in the 30’s, since plenty of guys back then were twice as dirty as Wlad and would foul him back without hesitation.
I think he probably does quite well and I'd favor him over everyone but Louis. Baer has a very realistic (if not necessarily probable) chance of icing him like Sanders did if he catches him early or late in his career, but I wouldn't bet on it if Wlad is at his peak. Schmeling might hold some surprises too.
I'm profoundly unimpressed with the skills of Baer. He was basically a toughman imposing himself on smaller guys. He's got nothing for Wlad. Louis, on the other hand, would be a different kettle of fish. I've argued in the past for Wlad against Louis, but Louis could hang with any HW in history. I favour Klitschko, with that caveat.
without his brother? Areyou kidding me. Without vits torevenge his drubbings by midranked opponents, hes nothing, no WBO title to claim. He can break into the top ten though.
As his career played out George. I'm of the opinion that Wlad looks great against some but gets belted by others . For some reason I believe that Max S gives him one of the tougher fight s ,can see Wlad getting tagged by Max's right far to easily for comfort .Baer s another one that could give Wlad a L on his record. I def don't see him being unbeatable until Louis comes along !
Baer did probably even better against bigger opponents. He destroyed Carnera, Santa, Cominskey and others. Wladimir would be clear favorite here, but Max was very crafty and he had great chin, he could absorb necessary blows to land his own. He wasn't that large compared to his opponents, he was just much more talented and crafty fighter.
Lol yeah because we all know Carnera, and the guys from the 30s were as athletic and as skilled as Wladimir Klitschko. Also Max Baer was talented? Yeah this is why you people from the Classic Forum shouldn't be allowed to make post or even be part of this forum. How clueless can somebody get. There is nobody from the 10's,20's,30's40's,50's or even early 60's who was nearly as skilled and talented as Wladimir Klitschko.
You didn't touch my points even once in your reply. I said that Baer didn't have success because of his size advantage and he won against many boxers bigger than him. I haven't said that they were better than Wlad, of course they weren't. If you think that Max Baer wasn't talented then I'm not sure who shouldn't have a voice in discussions on this forum. BTW, if you think that Wlad is more skilled than Joe Louis then I seriously doubt that you have anything besides basic knowledge. Better fighter? Maybe, as he's much bigger than Louis (though I disagree). More skilled? No way.
Lol right as I said people like you shouldn't be allowed to join boxing forums. Boxing is clearly way too much for you too handle. Baer wasn't even considered to be skilled for his own era. But you think he is as skilled as modern skilled fighters like Wladimir Klitschko? Give me a break. Joe Louis was skilled for a guy who fought during the 30's, 40's and early 50's. Compared to modern fighters Joe Louis would of been considered a club fighter. Joe Louis was fighting no talent oafs like Prime Canera and Buddy Baer. Again these guys weren't even considered skilled for that era. But most of the people Louis fought were 170 to 190 pounds. That is why Joe Louis had success. If Joe Louis would of turned pro in the 70's,80's, 90's, or afterward he would be considered a cruiserweight. Not only would he could a cruiserweight he would be considered a lower tier cruiserweight.
