No way does Al Haymon let Ruiz fight in the UK.

Can definitely see an early stoppage, or hometown decision.

There might be a rematch clause, but Ruiz doesn't have to sign for the fight to be in the UK. He could threaten to vacate all of the belts if the rematch isn't in LA or Mexico.

Joshua can win the rematch most definitely, he just needs to box a much smarter fight than he did first time round. Charging in against a fighter with shorter levers and much faster hands on the inside in the pocket is suicide. Yes, he got the knockdown against Ruiz through doing that initially, but it became apparent very quickly that it was the completely incorrect way to approach fighting someone like Ruiz. I have watched the fight back several times and I still for the life of me don't understand what he was trying to do jabbing from the hip and pawing out his jab pathetically. A man with his size and power and reach advantage should be pumping a ramrod jab into the face of Ruiz, focus on breaking him down and then taking him out later, due to the fact that Ruiz handled Joshua's power very well actually. I just think trying to trade hooks on the inside was the wrong idea and his jab was almost non-existent. He can win the rematch yes, but so could Ruiz. He just needs to box smarter and the biggest challenge for him will be the mental aspect of recovering from the beating he took. I believe he can do it, but watching him fight was worrying.

At first I was thinking that Joshua would fight a lot smarter in the rematch and beat him..but I now just think that Ruiz has Joshua's card marked. He is the bogeyman to big AJ...he beats him again in the rematch, rounds 7-10

So do from round 1, what got him knocked down twice in round 3 after he dropped Ruiz?

His chin isn't that bad, but it's not good enough to throw caution to the wind.

No he's confirmed he's triggered the clause with a venue tbc. Let's wait and see what Al and Ruiz reply with.

Ruiz should be insisting the rematch is in Mexico or the USA and he has the referee and equal choice on judges.

I think Ruiz Jr Banjos AJ again if the rematch is in Mexico or the USA.

However if it is in the U.K. I can see a referee constantly jumping in when it goes to the inside and the judges being corrupt in AJs favour.

My call depends on where the rematch takes place. For the purposes of this poll I am assuming it takes place in either the USA or Mexico.

That would be my exact approach

You only get your rematch in the USA or Mexico otherwise whistle for it mate.

Everyone keeps saying this but there’s not a chance the rematch goes the distance. The winner either way will be via KO. They’ll go where the most money is and that’s the UK you’d imagine. 70k in Cardiff, 1 million PPV buys. It will be huge.

It won’t necessarily go where the most money is. It isn’t inevitably going to be in the U.K. either.

There are 3 major belts in Ruiz Jrs possession and he has a major promoter on his side. There is overall ground to be made up to attack DAZNs plans to break into the US market at stake here too.

Ruiz Jr can play hardball on this to stack the deck in his favour, even IF the rematch clause states it is in the U.K. that will be challenged hard.

Ruiz Jr can also be so insanely difficult that the rematch doesn’t happen and then the belts are shattered in different directions with 1 of them staying with him.

I’d be shocked if it’s straight forward.

If the rematch is going to happen in the UK, it’s going to cost Matchroom and AJ

Hearn has already said it was in the contract for a rematch in the UK.
