I disagree. Joshua was higher regarded than Bonecrusher or Page were at the time Tubbs beat them. Bonecrusher was fresh off a beating from Larry Holmes. Page was barely beaten by Tubbs. In fact even David Bey had beaten Page before Tubbs had. So we are talking David Bey level here. That’s who Tubbs matched. Where as Joshua was fresh off a win over Povetkin, had unified titles against Parker And had won a great fight against Klitschko. What great fight had Tubbs or Page or Bonecrusher EVER won?
Responding to you would be redundant. The wins I mentioned previously were good wins. And, to my eyes, Tony Tubbs is superior to Ruiz in size, power, speed, strength, quickness, defense, boxing ability, and both amateur and professional pedigree. You mention David Bey. Unless I see more out of Ruiz, I would pick David Bey to beat Ruiz. Bey certainly punched much harder than Ruiz. David Bey would have knocked out the version of Anthony Joshua that fought last Saturday as soon as he had him hurt.
Ruiz like to brawl and stands right in front of you.........Tyson would make quick work of him, you cannot trade with Tyson, too fast too good of a chin too much power/skill, Ruiz would take some viscous shots before going down.....he also has a bad habit of sticking his chin up in the air when he throws more than one shot. Insert Tyson instead of Ruiz last saturday and AJ should consider himself lucky to make it into the 2nd round.......it would make Tyson/Bruno like a competitive fight in comparison, absolute demolishing job, there would not be any time for AJ to quit , he would go to sleep for the ten count.
Tubbs was a much better boxer than Joshua. Talking about resumes. You know who Trevor Berbick beat? 3 heavyweight champions- Pinklon Thomas, Greg Page, and John Tate. He beat Thomas and Page when they were undefeated. John Tate had just lost his title to Weaver. That was Tate's only loss. He had won almost every round of the fight but got stopped in the last round. Berbick also stopped David Bey when he was a top 10 heavyweight. Would you say Berbick was a better fighter than Tony Tubbs? Even though Berbick's resume is better, he wasn't as good as Tubbs. Tubbs, Page, Tucker, Biggs, Pinklon, Williams, Ruddock were all better boxers than AJ. AJ is a good fighter considering his size but 80s heavyweights were very talented.
Berbick also beat the shell of a Champion fighter named Muhammad Ali. (sad situation). Tyson wouldn’t last a round with this modern specimen. Men of the past couldn’t compete he’s 60 pounds heavier then Mike it’s a mismatch for poor Tyson.

I don’t think there is evidence to support this. I don’t think Bey was crap, he was good, I saw a lot of his fights and even losing he was good value against Joe Bugner, Damiani and Tyrell Biggs. But the thing is, he would have been beaten by Ruiz and Joshua too in my view. I cannot see the evidence to support of David winning that kind of fight. The record, the film, it all points to a conclusion that David Bey was simply a tough guy destined to lose to good fighters. Ruiz beat a better fighter. The version of Anthony Joshua that Ruiz fought still decked Ruiz harder than anyone who put David Bey down. It was prime Anthony Joshua. Schmeling beat a prime Louis and Douglas beat a prime Tyson. Sometimes the perfect Tactics wins fights.

Ruiz didn't perform better than we thought, it was Joshua's shockingly bad performance that was the surprise. Tyson fury is the only heavyweight nowadays that is even CLOSE to the skill level that the late 70s-early 90s heavies had Shrink an 80s heavy like Holmes, Thomas,Witherspoon, tubbs or tucker down to welterweight and he still looks good. Shrink Joshua down to welter and he looks like an amateur
You cannot compare heavyweights to welterweights in terms of movement and skill. Could Lomachenko do half of his moves if he weighed 230lb?
