Why? Joshua wasn't caught by a one punch finisher in a fight he was dominating or even in a fight where he was tit for tat. No, Mexican John Candy walked that ass down, dropped him repeatedly, punished him, and then stopped him. Joshua was gripped w/ fear and pain for 4 rounds—more than half the bout. That fear will live inside him forever because fear is not only powerful, but Joshua is now very familiar with it. Inoue would KO Joshua if they fought next.
Too soon to count Joshua out over one loss. If he makes some adjustments and takes it easy with the weight lifting the fight could turn out completely different.
All depends on how he reacts. His flaws were exposed big time and his game plan was awful. He could go back to the drawing board , seriously work on his flaws (like actually learning to use his jab effectively) and come back as a much better fighter or he could just shrug it off as a bad day at he office and get beat again - then indeed he will be finished.
Now Now we should not jump the gun Even though im not a fan of Joshua I am aware he still is a very elite fighter with certain exceptional qualities his power for one. AJ chin has always been suspect but its not as bad as some may make it out to be Its average which is not really good enough at heavyweight. Aj can very well win the rematch with Ruiz the keys for him is to be smart and get behind the jab and break down the Mexican as soon as he gets him hurt he SHOULD not rush in like he did. Let us also remember AJ was caught with a crashing shot on the temple which scrambled him In other words I need to see how the rematch plays out before saying Anthony is "done"
Nah. As much as I enjoyed the hype train derailment of Saturday night, he's by no means finished. But AJ 2.0 be Vlad-like cautious, a jab and grabber until opponents tire. That could be incredibly effective long term. Now if he loses again to Ruiz, you might have a point....
That's some deep psychological analysis. Did you graduate from the Sigmund Freud school of psychoanalysis?
I doubt he has more than 30 career fights. The blueprint is out. And he is filthy rich and handsome. Hearts not in it
Folks. Once again. Joshua wasn't caught and KO'd in a fight he was winning or even competitive in (KD aside). Joshua was punished for 4.5 rounds by the Mexican Michelin Man. And worse yet, his heart gave out.
As much as I agree that was a real wake up call for him, he also flattened Ruiz Jr who has never been knocked down before, so he is no mug. I suspect a lot of fighters, Wilder included, may not have reacted as well as Ruiz did to that attack.
Handled correctly and assuming he wins the rematch - which is no given - this could be good for him long term. Seen the picture of his entourage he posted on Twitter? Some non-league football teams get smaller crowds. He needs to focus on the things that matter, cut out the beast BS, cut back on the commercial nonsense (even if it costs him a few million) accept his flaws and work around them. Oh yeah, and heal those mental scars pronto. There is a route back, but yeah not an easy one....
I recall RJJ (out of all people, imagine!) said that the "blueprint for beating Wlad is now known, he is finished at top-level. He has a glass jaw, everyone knows now!" That was after the Brewster fight in 2004. So these extrapolations are to be taken with a huge grain of salt.
It’s a light hearted Internet forum. Can you please stop being a cry baby. Obviously everyone is half joking and excited after a massive upset
