Fair play to the guy. What an amazing story. Seems like the kind of guy who really deserves it too. This is what boxing is all about.
this kid gonna be alright no matter what happens. hes got his mom and pops at the head of a strong support group, which includes a beautiful family of his own. he is truly blessed. long live the king.
Jewelry depreciates at an alarming rate when you try to sell it. Don't believe me? Go and buy a diamond necklace or engagement ring and try and sell it for even close to what you paid for it.
I might be wrong but I'm sure he had that chain before the fight, he put it on after the weigh in so not sure what all the fuss is about
Hard to dislike him I think he knows he can’t skate by on hand speed and stamina, that he has to get the weight down
Why does he have to get his weight down? If it’s not broken don’t fix it. The reason an athlete would get his weight down is to improve stamina, speed and mobility. Ruiz doesn’t have a problem there. He has been obese and fighting as an obese person his whole life. He talks about looking like a Mexican AJ but that’s just self-deprecating talk, he’s not serious. He follows that up with saying he wants to stay active and healthy. If he loses 10-20 pounds that’s probably no big deal but he shouldn’t be trying to change anything much when everything is working for him. His weight allows him to hold his ground and counter. He has an insane chin and that might be in part due to his weight.
He's laid back as hell. I didn't think he was going to win at all, but from the first round, I knew he at least had come to win. He looked fearless.
Well I hope that's true, but by the time of the weigh in isn't the money already in the bank? Really trying to not sound negative for Andy. I'm genuinely happy for him, hence my concern. I want to see him do well in the future and learning from others past mistakes can help achieve those goals. Boxing is 9x% mental as they say and getting rich overnight affects that mentality, maybe positively, maybe negatively. Many heavyweight champs have been "set for life" only to end up broken destitute old men. It looks like Andy has a great support network around him, hopefully he goes on to further success.
