Andy Ruiz got lucky with the wild punch to the back of the head

Let’s be honest. Wilder almost had the same fate as AJ when he was throwing wild haymakers vs Braezeale and got caught one himself. Had it landed on the back of the head causing a concussion, he would probably have a different outcome. Same with Ortiz fight. Had Ortiz have one punch land on back of head causing concussion instead of his chin, Wilder be out.

Andy Ruiz Jr just got lucky with that one punch and AJ got unlucky to let it land where it landed.

 

Yep, if someone lands a knockout punch, they win. Unlucky for the loser.

You are right. He got lucky. After training for years and years and fighting for years and years, luck finally stepped in and played its part. In boxing, as in life, you prepare and prepare and prepare and work and work and work and work and sacrifice and sacrifice and sacrifice and plan and plan and plan. Then luck finally steps in and you get lucky.

I agree it was definitely that single punch that altered the whole course of the fight. All these idiots saying Joshua is done, it was different he took a prolonged beating/ he was out boxed for 7 rounds it wasnt one shot fluke ko blah blah blah.
That one shot was the beginning of the end in that fight. All the rest was just window dressing. Joshua clearly never regained his mind or Body. He looked drunk.

Now I dont subscribe to the lucky punch stuff though at all. Andy was aiming his punches and it landed.

Maybe if it had hit the chin he might've recovered better like against wlad but that's besides the point and Andy most likely wasnt out right aiming for that area but he was aiming for the head obviously.

What I do believe though is that that same punch is not going to land in the rematch because AJ isnt going to allow Andy into the fight this time in the first place.

We now have a laser focused, angry Joshua hell bent on revenge too.
I see Joshua jabbing Andy's face in till the later rounds and finishing him off with a huge right hand off of the one two.

Joshua will be working on maintaining distance and composure a lot and I would advise him to seriously brush up on his in fighting game. He has devastating uppercuts already and should add in some hard body blows.

Bad luck for us. This is almost as bad as when non contender retiree Sanders easily killed prime wlad.

Ruiz Jr prepared since he was 7 years old, and then when given the opportunity he absolutely smashed it! (Both times IMO, the Parker fight could have gone either way)

Might I add, i'm a big fan of AJ and root for him above any HW so i'm gutted to see him lose (and in the fashion he did) - but full credit to Ruiz he was fantastic, don't make excuses for AJ he's taken the loss well and simply lost to the better fighter on the night.

I think AJ will prepare well physically and mentally for the rematch and get those belts back, I hope so anyway!
