- Jab, jab, jab. - Learn to clinch! - Learn to be strong in the clinch! - NO body shots at the inside, only jabs to the body - Learn to move your head! - NO inside fighting! - Move!!! Problem here is... 3 out of those 7 points are beginning with the word "Learn..."...Probably too late to learn such basic things like clinching or head movement while you have 5-6 months to prepare for the rematch. Joshua lacks fundamentals and he was exposed BADLY here. I doubt he can turn it around in the rematch. IMO he will get KTFO again. Maybe even more brutal. If he wants to win he needs to run for 12 rounds. UK judges and Hearn&MAtchroom will do the rest for him.
Lewis was so good. Even Tua would beat everyone besides Fury today. I think if he trains his whole camp with this strategy in mind he might be able to pull it off. But his feet are stuck in mud compared to Lewis and he's way stiffer. He can't afford to trade though, that was pure stupidity. Imagine Lewis trading left hooks in middle of the ring with Tua.
To be honest Lewis by the time he fought Tua was at his boxing peak and had learnt all the tools to be an all round fighter AJ is still young and raw and hasn't reached his boxing peak yet
Comparing Lewis and Joshau is like apples and bananas. He can't fight like him because he lacks fundamentals. Did you ever see Joshua moving out and coming back in with a counter right? Or throwing a jab and moving out to the side? Joshua is a stiff robotic basic boxer who won the majority of his fights because of his size & power not because he's good boxer or has great skills. Ruiz is simply the better boxer. And size and power obviously didn't help Joshua here. He needs to jab and run for 12 rounds and hope for some cooked Matchroom cards.
The question should be, Will AJ still be the same? Not all fighters come back like if nothing happen after a beating like that...
That would be asking Joshua to put the viewers to sleep instead of Ruiz. Same tactics that had HBO decline to have Wladimir Klitchko appear on their network.
Lewis had a lot of boring fights. Wlad had even more. Bowe always was in exciting wars or demolished his opponents. But I think 99% of boxers would prefer a career and longevity of Lewis and Wlad. Being exciting fighter is good for public, but going toe-to-toe in every fight might be dangerous for your health and your career.
Ruiz is not some kind of a granite monster. Joshua can and will Ko him in the rematch. And he should fight like this: This content is protected Ruiz will get heavy frustrated after 3-4 round and will start swing wildly and there Joshua should KO him.
Fighting in UK with all the fans, 3 judges and the referee well, all he needs is to remain standing by the end of 12th round to win a decision.
Well he didnt seem to do anything of the things he had been training for and instructed to do in the 1st fight. From the transcript of words spoken in the corner between rounds that i read it seemed Joshua was not doing pretty much anything he was being told. Similar tactics but next time actually followed through with. Or now they have seen Ruiz really close up they may think of something else but i feel if he had followed the correct plan the 1st time round we wouldnt be talking about a rematch now. But thats just my opinion, some feel Ruiz just has AJ's number and has exposed weaknesses that have been obvious in AJ his whole pro career. Im sure the rematch will confirm something one way or another. But as a fan who has seen all AJ fights im sure he can control the distance with his jab better than he did in that 1st fight where he didnt do it at all or even try and then when Ruiz did get through into the dangerzone Joshua made zero attempts to try to get that distance back with his legs, he just stayed flat footed on the spot leaving Ruiz free to tee off on him. So i expect similar pre fight tactics in regards to their plan A in this fight i just hope Joshua can execute those tactics better in the ring. But they need to be ready with a good plan B just incase there are no other reasons to why he lost the 1st one other than Ruiz has him sussed.
AJ needs to get his head off the center line after punching, he kept getting countered after he punched because his head was stationary after punching.
Good advices for just coming to win but not coming to fight. It would be damnnnnn boring fight if AJ did the things you told him to do. He will be booed.........by the U.K. fans all night because it's not his style at all and AJ might be called "chicken" if he did so. Good coach anyway man....
Come forward behind the jab , don't let Luis come forwards , keep him on the end of every punch and he will win. However he wont do this , He will go backwards in a straight line , paw with his jab and get stopped in 5.
