Maybe bored with boxing. The whole trip just seemed like a holiday for me from what I was seeing on his social media. I think a motivated Joshua beats Ruiz all day but maybe it’s just not there anymore. He’s earned a lot of money and probably will continue to do so even without the sport.
To be fair, the lad might be carrying a load of timber but he can’t half box. Heavyweight is the one division where you don’t have to worry about it too much. As long as you’re fit enough to do the 12 rounds that’s all that matters. I think we have to give him credit for his skills...for a 6”2 lad to have had around 140 fights and only lost 6 is very impressive.
Obviously the fight should be in the USA. From a sporting stand point. (and quite possibly a business one too) That was the whole point of the first fight, to showcase Joshua on American soil. It was "The Anthony Joshua Show" crossing the Atlantic. It would be a bit lame to scurry back to UK for the rematch because Joshua failed to impress first time around. And what with all the funny stories that Joshua choked, surely it makes sense to erase those doubts and avenge the defeat and regain the titles all at once, rather than (best case scenario) he wins and there's still a load of doubt over whether he can perform outside of UK/Cardiff/Wembley.
totally agree.... People would always say German/Italian judges etc were massive homers but in the last few (matchroom) years the UK judges have been absolutely shocking
This makes sense on the Eddie Hearn spin that AJ 'wants to right the wrong in the MSG'...... They probably have no option on where the rematch is
Not just judges look at the ref in Joshua v Parker fight. If Ruiz had a ref like that he cant win as he would be stopped from getting up close and letting his hands go
