Lennon’s style is more classy and it’s more subtle. As a teen, I liked Buffer but as a grown man, I prefer Lennon now.
Well the poll says Buffer v Lennon and I think its safe to assume we're talking about in ring announcing not a fight, not their political stance, private lives or much of anything else.
That's an old school announcer affectation. Boxing and wrestling announcers used to do it decades ago. You don't really hear it much anymore.
Oh I prefer Lennon any day; might be a personal aging ( for both/one of us... MB's voice getting more sharp and screechy and/or my hearing is more sensitive as it weakens...or both/all ) and auditory thing but Buffer grates on me and hurts my head and ears. I actually turn the sound down when MB announces now...It's like when Gene Hackman/Lex Luthor sends a message to Clark Kent/Superman at a painfully sonic level that only dogs and Supes can hear. In fact that works for me--I'm Supes to Buffer's Luther. In conclusion-Lennon. addendum- First time I heard Buffer was with my pal watching Hagler vs Hamsho 2 at MSG in 84'....and we both thought his ' lets get ready...etc' stuff was brilliant. My ears are more sensitive and he's more screechy....there you go.
Wish I was that succinct and concise; took me paragraphs to make that point, -see below- but not my writing style. In fact, rethinking it... I do respect that brevity....but imagine how boring things would be if we all had the same writing style haha?
