Prime Frazier beats him in every department, offense, defense, even willpower. If Baer was scared of Louis, he would definitely be scared of prime Frazier.
But how can you use the Louis version of Baer, you know, the Baer with fractured hands and past prime. Are you using the Jumbo Cummings version of Frazier?
I think Baer would have difficulty landing that overhand right on the bobbing and weaving Frazier and without his only real weapon working for him ,I see Frazier gradually doing a number on him pasting his ribs and dominating him on the inslde.Frazier by clear decision.
This is Baer's fight to lose on paper. He probably still finds a way to lose it, because he was endlessly inventive in that respect.
Which he threw continuously and accurately for 15 rds. Baer was a sloppy, wild swinger.Frazier was a perpetual motion hooker ,to head and body.
I think this is one where Frazier's will power and determination will win it, while Max clowns to a lopsided loss. I think Baer would need to land big early to have a chance of winning.
He'd probably just smile and grin the whole time, and you'd tell me it would be absurd to think he wasn't trying to throw the fight. Even though smiles/grins thrown = 300.. punches thrown = 25 telegraphed haymakers
Except when Max was serious, on his rise to the top, he was demolishing the best fighters in the world
The 6 best opponents he fought just prior to his title win over Carnera were Levinsky x2 . He won a dec over 10, and a dec over 20. Heeney. He won a dec over10. Risko .He won a dec over 10. Schaff .He won a dec over 10. Uzcudun. He lost a dec over 20. Schmeling .The only one he ko'd/ demolished. He had also lost to Risko and Schaaf previously. Where are all the demolished best fighters in the world on his record?
He would have to find a way to keep Frazier away from him. Keep him on the outside. Only one guy was ever able to do that (Foreman)and he was uncommonly strong.
