403,000 Sky Box Office pay-per-view buys is the total. That's a MASSIVE drop of 705,000 in aj's last fight before. F*ck me now that's a flop. p.s Dazn did between 5,000 and 10,000 views LOL
Seeing as the fight was against a perceived “fat guy being dragged out of the pub to fight by Hearn” (as one of my mates at work said) at 5 in the morning and not 10pm prime time, there was always going to be a massive drop. I don’t know if you can call that a flop- the only ones who can say that for certain (which of course they wouldn’t) are Sky/Hearn as they would have known the projected figures for the event. As for DAZN figures, I definitely would need an actual source to believe that. If of course it was true, then Hearn is in bigger trouble than I thought.
Again it seems very coincidental that AJ fights on DAZN and these silly figures come out. Nobody seems to say anything about the Canelo fights yet AJ fights and the stupid numbers come out. Fight Hype asked Hearn about the ratings last week and he said it was on par with Joshua v Parker's rating on showtime. Their heavyweight title unification fight was watched by a peak audience of 379,000 and averaged 346,000 viewers Saturday, according to ratings released Tuesday by Nielsen Media Research.
13million watching on illegal streams. That will be bothering sky more than anything. OP-what’s the source for the numbers btw?
The 13 mil claim is a bust. We had this after the Wilder v Fury fight. They are not accurately tracking who is watching the fight live via a stream
The 13 million included people watching the day after on youtube etc. I don't believe anything like this high number were live streaming
Hearn wanted to make AJ a heavyweight star in the USA and instead created a Snickers poster boy and lost his UK audience.
13 million had access to the fight on a UNLICENSED platform. Regardless of watching it live, that’s a considerable amount of money taken from the pot. Approximately a £20million hit for sky.
If that number is correct it has to be considered a major success and above expectations. For the time it was on I would've expected it to do about a third of the previous one.
Good numbers considering fight time in UK. Imagine a UK rematch would do over 1.5 million and nice gate. If OP is correct and only 10k views via DAZN surely makes financial sense for rematch to be at Cardiff or White Hart Lane!?
If true then then thats good for a 4am fight If the DAZN numbers turn out to be true thats pretty worrying
