So guys ( and girls ) i used to be a great boxer in my teenage years, and i even became national champion once ( from scandinavia )

Im 23 years old today, and i have been doing much the last 2 years, like many other my age, i am studying right now, and i often go drinking with my classmates and friends. Sometimes its a couple of times a week, other times i dont party for weeks. But i miss boxing, and i want to start exercises again, for health reasons fun and keep the fat away. I have no plans about competing again anytime soon, i have been thinking about boxing 3 times a week. I mostly eat healthy actually, and try to get alot of greens to my meals.

What do you guys think about this, or is it completely stupid, and should i just hit fitness?

this is like asking people online what to eat for lunch, spaghetti or pizza? you already gave your reasons why you want to start boxing, so why do you doubt between boxing and fitness? btw, you were a champion, you should know everything about it.. good luck

Drinking doesn’t go good with boxing, driving or mountain climbing.

Moderation is key, bud. You can drink but drink responsibly.

You might be surprised at the number of really high level fighters, past and present, that drink a ton.

Just finished reading Eammon Magees book. He proved it can be done to an extent. Just imagine how even better he would have been without it.

That's the way to ruin your heart and cardiovascular system.

Go for it! Just never drink after sparring (or days you go boxing in general) and eat right.

I’m (was) also a big drinker but the more I boxed and went to the gym, the more I thought about my body and naturally just didn’t feel like drinking even on my days off. You’re a student though so it might be a lot tougher but, like some else mentioned, moderation is key.

Good luck and get back in the gym!

Sergey Kovalev drank a bottle of vodka a day. Andre Ward took advantage of that and attacked his midsection and made him quit.
