The source for the claim is almost certainly the BARB weekly viewing figures for Sky Box Office. As such, they should be treated with the usual caution.
Fury said it himself in an interview - 450k UK PPV buys for Fury/Wilder. He's BT's star fighter so he knows the figure. The figure hasn't been challenged by anyone since. Hayers only source opposing the figure is his hatred of Tyson Fury.
Fury said 450k buys. That can either be interpreted as UK alone or UK + USA. Personally I don't think there is any chance it 450k in the UK given that (i) It was BT not Sky (ii) Fury is far less popular than Joshua (iii) It was Pacific time not Eastern so the time difference was even worse.
Sadly there are some people who cannot afford even Sky Sports and listen to the fights on the Radio - these people will be at least the same number as the PPV Mugths. Anything broadcast live across more than one country is available to view anywhere on the internet. Illegal streaming will never stop as it takes months to legally close down a site and seconds for another 100 to pop up.
Fury may not be as popular as AJ but he's popular in his own right. Have a look around, he's bloody everywhere. Easily the most talked about fighter on this forum for example. He's been on good morning Britain several times. The Joe Rogan experience with Tyson Fury has done almost three million views. He's headlining Vegas this weekend ffs. His fight v Wladimir Klistchko done over 500k ppv buys when he wasn't given much of a chance and Wlad was deemed the most boring champ of all time. Fury is a much bigger star nowadays and Wilder is s great sell to the casuals. 450k UK PPV's is absolutely believable.
Fair post- but you know aswell as I do that it is highly unlikely he did 450k Uk PPV’s. 450k will be the combined figure, which is still a reasonable number
Lots of people take a moral stance against abortion. The standard Catholic stance is that abortion is wrong because it is the killing of a human being. The argument has some merit. BILLIONS of people on this planet believe so. Crazy to pretend Fury's views are outside of the norms.
