Makabu vs. Cieslak next anyone?

 

His face looked like a truck ran over it multiple times. Even with this stoppage I fear for his health. This fight had brain damage written all over it.

With the first knockdown, Makabu was a bit lucky that Kudryashov went down, because he was out on his feet as well.

 

Kudryashov is frustrating, he looks like a destroyer but he has a subpar chin and stamina, he is pretty much the cruiserweight David Price, entertainment value is always high though.

 

Done with my regularly scheduled 11am morning poop, watching now.

 

Right before Makabu Dropped Kudryashov, Makabu was on very wobbly legs. Looked like Makabu uncontrollably lifted his knee above his heart as he stanky leg stumbled the neutral corner lol

 

When you spend two minutes getting pasted without offering anything in return, are bleeding from multiple orifices, and have already been dropped and hurt several time, and then stagger into the ropes with your hands down and eat a flush shot from your opponent's vaunted rear hand, it's time to call the fight.

Dmitry Alexandrovich Kudryashov vs. Ilunga Makabu, 12 rounds @ cruiserweight, for the dove-ill-yew-bee-say Silver!!

 

Kudryashov has "taventy shree" victories, apparently. Guess I've been pronouncing "23" wrong all these years.

 

The referee, Hector Afu looks so nervous, biting his bottom lip, probably just said a silent prayer all through anthems, ring walks and introductions that neither of these behemoths (relative to him, anyway - if he were a competitor he'd be a super feather, tops) clocks him with a stray missed haymaker.

 

Round 1

Makabu schooling Kudryashov with some basic clockwise movement and right jabs on the body, mixed with feints up top. Kudryashov is clueless; this surely can't be his first southpaw? Can't recall and can't be arsed to pull open a browser tab and check just now. Anyway, there's nothing landing except the Makabu jab. Kudryashov barely taking any shots of his own, aside from a couple of side-wound right hands on the body when Makabu is cutting a corner. It grazes, so Kudryashov gets bold and tries a right up top but misses by a mile. Jabs on the face and right hooks beneath the elbows by Makabu

Kudryashov's face is already marked up after just three minutes.

 

Round 2

Kudryashov is frozen in place as Makabu feigns a combination upstairs and then squats with his spine flattened, bent forward above the waist to poke a sturdy right jab into Kudryashov's thorax and then straightening up before he can retaliate. Kudryashov tries a few left jabs on the body, all checked on the guard as Makabu lowers his elbow in time. Kudryashov with a wild right up top, not even close to connecting. Makabu controlling the distance, twisting himself to his left to minimize his target, making Kudryashov lunge and miss. Kudryashov explodes with a series of power shots, impatient, but Makabu rolls with them and catches them on his tightly bundled arms while shimmying in the pocket. Kudryashov DOWN from a counter hook! Bowled over, legs up like an upended beetle. He charges at Makabu, huge mistake, rocked again, down (held up by the ropes) again but not ruled a KD by the ref at the bell.

Round 3

Kudryashov is pushed immediately against the corner turnbuckle, Makabu intent on finishing him off here & now. Heavy combinations working off the right jab, Makabu not letting Kudryashov get a punch in edgewise, just swarming him. Nonstop jabs in the face have Kudryashov blinking & flinching, retreating into a shell with the palm of his right glove wrapped protectively around his swollen and reddened nose. Makabu is ALL OVER him, picking him apart. Kudryashov is backed across the ring, trying in vain to load up on a big right hand or left hook but always grounded in the hangar by Makabu bearing down on him. Kudryashov eating tons of shots. Right jab & left uppercut combos for Makabu. Jab to face, body, face, body - all in a row, unanswered, flush. Makabu in total control, until the final seconds when Kudryashov jumps off the ropes with a desperate uppercut and shatters Makabu's nose.
