By fighting a more cagey fight. He got hurt early and never recovered. When he did box better in the mid to later rounds Carl did well but too little too late. Still It was a very competitive fight. Josh didn't whitewash Carl. By no means.
a more cagey fight just means more rest for Josh between his attacks. Carl doesnt have the tools to deal with someone like Josh anymnore, certainly not at this weight... Carl doesnt have the power anymore to discourage someone like Warrington. Couple that with Warringtons massive reach advantage. It wasnt a close fight there was no dispute as to who won it, even Carl said so...Plus Carl has also said post fight that Warrington hit him harder than any other fighter he has fought. He isnt keen in fighting him again, Carl aint stupid.
If Galahad felt he was fighting someone who was better than him on the outside and the only chance he had was winning the fight on the inside, then he wouldn't grapple. He was comfortable at range with Warrington so neutralised him on the inside. Not all top fighters fight the same and have the same attributes - so he could adapt his game plan accordingly and fight what way gave him the best chance. Grappling wouldn't be the solution to the problem for every top level fight.
He didnt neutralise him, he grappled him, which is illegal. If galahad worked on the inside instead of grappling he might have. He might have gotten beaten up badly but he was never gonna win the fight with the holding. Like I said in another thread most of the good work that Galahad did was not scoring criteria. Like I said you cannot say he would not grapple with other fighters of that level as we dont know. All we do know is that when he did step up levels he decided to grapple. Taken from Galahads mouth "there is no gameplan i will see what i need to do when im in the ring"
He didn't get docked a point so he didn't excessively do anything illegal in the eyes of the ref. A lot of what he done was scoring, he landed often with single shots and was making Warrington miss embarrassingly at times - both scoring. If you believe that wasn't part of the game plan then god help you.
Was unbelievable he wasn't docked a point, but either way if the ref doesn't call it then it doesn't matter.
And breidis did nothing wrong the other night... In the eyes of the ref I'm terms of the game plan all I did was quote galahad
An elbow clean in the boat is a bit less subjective than grappling and holding. Fair enough, wouldn't believe that in a million years though. Appeared very calculated to me, that and switching southpaw seemed the main two parts of the gameplan.
