You're ignoring reality. It's not about the Ali or Frazier bout. It's about all of those other bouts above 175 that Foster lost without logging one serious win. And many of those guys were equal size or smaller than Jirov. You're willfully ignoring those fights as if Rahman only lost to Lewis. This may come as a surprise to you, but Jirov fought with day befire weigh-ins in a divison that didn't exist when Foster was around. That would put his same day weight between 200 and 210, which was bigger than most of the heavyweights back then. It's a leap of faith to assume that Foster's single decent win above 175 would come against Jirov. P.S. Jirov was past it and winning every round against Moorer until he walked into a punch that only a southpaw could deliver.
This may come as a surprise to you but Jirov lost to a middleweight. Not even heavies. Went the distance with a jr middleweight. Lost by ko to a lh he was having his way with. And MM had 1 foot in the grave & was the washed up guy, not Jirov.
I think you didn't watch the Toney fight. Jirov threw over 1k punches and most observers had it about even until Toney had the big 12th round. It's hardly a knock on Jirov. You probably just read the judges' scorecards. And Toney went on to be a legitimate heavyweight contender, something Foster never came close to. As for the Moorer fight, you're reaching because I hurt your feelings by fairly criticizing Foster. Both Jirov and Moorer were well cooked by that point.
Must be tough being on a forum and being the only guy who knows what he is talking about. How does it go?"A young fart is without honour in his.-----"lol
It's telling how you jump on the few joking comments I make but can't provide any proof of quality wins for Foster over 175. Jirov and Foster both lacked exposure to great opposition in their prime divisions but looked great against what was there for them. Neither made the stylistic adjustments necessary for success in going up in weight. A big difference is that Jirov was a size or two bigger and had an aggressive style predicated on breaking down his opponent. Jirov also had an elite am career that exposed him to all types of fighters whereas I'm not aware of any world class southpaws who Foster fought. Foster would be dead in the water if he didn't land something huge early in the fight. He'd get smothered and broken down for a tko loss.
You’re the kid who tries too hard to be part of the in crowd. I’m still waiting to hear about Bob Foster’s career above 175.
I never called you an old fart. And I proved my point. You have absolutely nothing to say about Foster’s career above 175.
I've always got something to say.FYI Foster fought 29 men over 180lbs, which made them heavyweights when he was fighting. He won 22, 20 by, ko2 by dec, lost 7, 4 to ranked heavyweights,2 of whom were undisputed champions and in most peoples top ten of all time , another held a version of the title, another he lost to when he came in as a late sub , the other to longtime ranked contender Folley ,and 2 when he was 40 years old. You don't have a point, just some lame generalizing insults in which you lumped all the rest of us together because we disagreed with you. I couldn't care less what you call me, your opinion is irrelevant to me.
Now tell me who he beat. Buck Smith lost to a lot of good fighters too. I wouldn’t pick him to beat Jirov.
