I wrote a term paper in college about this. IMHO I still feel he may have been guilty. Lipton, who was a friend of Rubin's, from all accounts I've heard, felt he was guilty. Ron mentioned Rubin getting an award for( something like) exemplary conduct and vindication after his release (his release was wasn't an innocent verdict, only a legal snafu). Ron said he saw 'canes' reaction upon receiving the award, contrite, out of sorts, and thought that reaction sealed the deal on his guilt or innocence in Lipton's opinion. Two closing thoughts: Anyone remember? Carter being interviewed before the Ali-Young fight in 76 (I guess he was given a temp furlough). Reports say he sexually assaulted a reporter (in a hotel room) prior to the fight? I love Bob Dylan but I've never heard any 'bi-op' of his that played so fast and loose with the facts. Well maybe that song about George Jackson or John Wesley Harding who once shot a man to death for snoring in his sleep. My $0.02
I'm also on the fence. Hate to think he outright did it as his book ment alot to me as a young kid. For this show to have good cred Lipton has to be in it. I know there back story and no one knows Rubin like Ron
Listened to this podcast and it was great. The amount of conflicting evidence makes getting a definitive answer impossible however Artis and Carter were certainly involved, listening to Artis you wouldn’t think he was capable, but having read this https://graphicwitness.com/carter/index.html I'm 90% sure they were the shooters.
