Joshua has either been stunned, hurt, or dropped in many fights, so it wasn't a shock that he got KO'd. It was shocking that Andy Ruiz was the one to do it, though.

He was, I felt Takam and Povetkin would do it , they got close but failed at the final hurdle. It was only a matter of time. Wlad drove himself senile with his safety first style and refused to finish him but it was clear it was on the cards as soon as he fought a fresh, live opponent.

Admittedly though I didn't think Ruiz would be the one to do it! He had the style but his heart was unknown until the big night. Ruiz is a very good fighter and got underestimated due to his physique.

Parker should have been the one to do it.

Too cautious and too much Ref interference...

Takam, Povetkin and Wlad were all in late 30s early 40s and couldn't do the job. Ruiz is in his prime.

True, but I felt even they might expose him and both came close! Wlad must be kicking himself for holding back. Ruiz fought a near perfect fight and deserves all the credit in the world, that was no lucky punch.

Remember how a legitimate % of posters here seriously thought and daydreamed that Joshua was already an ATG, already better than both Klitschkos, talking about how he's to go down as a top 5 HW, would beat Ali and Louis and Holyfield on the same night, etc?

Yeah. Don't forget that. And if I described you? 10 lashings.

Yep. The thread Sephiroth made and reposted about how the ref intervened in the Parker fight makes amusing reading now. There's still one or two of the garrison holding out mind you, like those Japanese soldiers who refused to surrender at the end of WW2 and lived out on islands in a siege mentality till the 70's.
