    Gate: $882,145.00
    Tickets Sold: 5489
    Comps: 1187

For a venue that seats over 17,000 someone's taking a bath on this one.

"He’s sold the show so well that it’s nearing a sellout. Promoter Bob Arum said all but about 700 of the 11,000 or so tickets that were put on sale have been scarfed up as Fury attempts to establish himself as a prominent figure in the fight game in the U.S."

    Hmmmmm.

It shouldn't be a surprise. An English guy vs a German jobber with no undercard fighting in Vegas. Why would anyone care?

Call fury the lineal champion all you want but unless he fights serious challengers the US venues will be empty.

    What's your source?

Was it ever going to be a sell out? As said; a Brit having his 3rd fight in America v an unknown German. Top Rank obviously knew they may lose some money on this show.

It's a surprise because after the Wilder fight Warren and Arum told us all that he would be the biggest name in boxing after that fight.

Also a surprise because Arum proclaimed during fight week that it was close to a sell out.

The source is the Nevada commission via jedigoodman on Twitter.

I’m not sticking up for Eddie Hearn but as he says in his latest IFL interview, if he put on this show and made it £20 PPV, he would be crucified. I know I’m going off point but this was a bog standard Top Rank show in the USA but Warren and Bt charged full whack. Cynical in the extreme but I’m sure, like Crawford Khan, many saw it and few paid.

They made a balls up putting the fight on PPV in the UK. Greed on BT’s part

However, American shows are notorious for being poorly attended at the gate. Even Lomachenko has to settle for the theatre at MSG.

Fury is creating a buzz surrounding his persona- I can’t speak for American audiences (although it appears he’s being well received) but his popularity has seemingly increased significantly since the Wilder fight in the UK.

The fact he’s fighting in Vegas shows Top Rank’s intentions; I wouldn’t be surprised if the Wilder rematch breaks 1million PPV’s (stateside and UK combined ) if they both carry on with their current trajectories.

No surprise but as I said in the other thread it was a loss leader. They knew they would take a hit on this one because of the future massive pots to come.

Ticket sale figures should not be confused with the official attendance which was well over 9000. An excellent turnout for such a terrible fight.

Yes, the objective was to build Fury's profile in the US, which appears to have been a success.

Fury-Schwarz was never intended to be any kind of payoff.

If Fury-Wilder II tanks, then the project will indeed have been a failure. I think it's building quite nicely though.

He puts on ‘this show’ practically weekly in the USA and charges that per month on Dazn. I’ve seen him criticized but hardly crucified.

Most of his shows are low-level cable TV fare or a ‘star’ level fighter (GGG) vs. a bum. And that last GGG fight in MSG sold a similar number, arena was more than half-empty.

Just going to give my opinion.

Why do these guys care so much about "cracking america"

UK heavyweight boxing, a month ago had 3/4 of the top 4 heavyweights in the world, and great prospects Dubois Joyce and Gorman

US heavyweight boxing was on life support with only Wilder to their name. There wasn't any real money over there, not that was matching what the uk was generating.

Now they have all 4 titles, and unless Joshua pulls off a highly unlikely comeback win vs ruiz jr, Al Haymon will hold every card.

Ruiz jr vs Wilder 2 Americans for undisputed will be massive, and Fury won't be getting a shot against the winner unless he takes small money and HE'S ALREADY BEEN ROBBED ONCE.

You guys do realize, if Fish eyes and silver spoon could have stopped bickering for once, Joshua could have rolled over a stiff at the O2 the other week and we could be looking at Fury vs AJ this summer?

Wilder and Haymon could have been left barking at shadows and Wilder would have to come to the uk to face the winner or be ridiculed.

Because of this in fighting between British promoters, we have handed the keys to the division to Al Haymon and the Americans.

When Wilder becomes undisputed and they Rob Fury in the rematch again and all the yanks post troll gifs and memes in general 24/7. Remember all of this was because Hearn and Warren couldn't put their petty differences aside for one minute.

    simple, greed

Joshua and Fury could make enough money in the UK to last them 100 lifetimes but they got greedy and now want USA money too

Agreed, did they think fury - schwarz would bring in money? Of course not. They achieved their aim of fury looking great in the US and they’ll be perfectly happy with what’s happened. The goal is to bring in the money in the wilder fight , I’m not sure it does the numbers some are suggesting but I would imagine it does 500-600k which is great.
