After seeing him against Byfield I thought this lad was going places in a hurry, even though he had some defensive frailties

But the Garcia loss, the gambling addiction issues and now his latest "Draw" against a 4 round fighter, is jarring.

Does he have a future in boxing, or is he finished?

Is he mentally gone, or does he just need to take a break and change his set up?

He's only 23 so can't say he's finished, stuck between a rock and hard place between British level and European level. Fitzgerald and Fowler will be licking their lips after seeing him last night.

Didn’t realise he had the gambling issues until I saw it on here, very sad. I think his career will definitely be cut short, far too brave for his own good and doesn’t seem to learn from his mistakes at all with his non existent defence. Fitzgerald would school him IMO and Hearn/Coldwell would be desperate to get Fowler in with him, decent name to get him back on track. Hope he’s not quickly heading down the Sam Eggington route.

You can’t really begrudge him the Garcia loss, he’s a good fighter. It was just the manner of the loss. Defending with his face, absolutely no idea on the offensive or defensive.

The thing I’m most worried is the (alleged) gambling. If he’s got a serious problem he’s going to be rushing himself in to fights he’s not physically and mentally ready for.

    Im not sure about finished
I think its a case of him not being as good as we initially thought

Not one thing learnt from the absolute beating from Garcia

Finished or not the amount of shots he takes clean his career will be a very short one.

The thing is, in this sport of high profiles, Eddie or Frank spinning their yarns, the availability of social media, these young men start believing the hype.
It's been a big knock for cheeseman, he may benefit from some time out or maybe his team can sit him down, devise a strategy to bring him back stronger. With some basic technical work he could do well in the sport.

Quite clearly the issues outside of the ring are affecting him but he's got to go away and work on his defence. A year ago he'd have won last night.

As a West Ham fan I was really hoping that Sammy McNess would be able to get himself into a position to fight Cheeseman but after the unsavoury scenes at his fight against Byfield, which completely derailed his career in my opinion, I can't see it happening anytime soon.

Cheese can come again, he's really young and just needs to work on some parts of his game. Easier said than done but I think he's better than Egginton. Interestingly both Egg and Cheese have wins against former top level operators, Malinaggi and Jones.

Cheeseman is what he is and I'm surprised so many people on here thought he'd go onto bigger things then he has.
For me byfield was a few tricks away from beating him. For example if he had a slightly longer amateur career I think byfield would have beat him. From that point onwards he was a schooling waiting to happen, which happened. I thought Conway would beat him. Didn't bother watching last night mostly because I forgot it was even on but wouldn't be surprised if Conway got jobbed. What I've seen of Conway he's a pretty solid fighter with good fundamentals and I can't really say the same for cheeseman. He's not finished he's just never gunna be better then he already is. If he was close to me however if advise him to retire. His style ain't worth what he's going to get out of the game

Eddie simply must pump the brakes on the Fitzgerald fight, as he’s going to take a hammering. He’s only 23 slow it down.

The exposure and hype he gets is absolutely bizarre. Domestic level fighter and no more.

    He also looks mid 50's.

I doubt Hearn is that bothered about what happens to Ted now tbh. He will just make the Fitzgerald fight and hope Fitzgeralds wins, which he probably will.

He can have a decent career at British level but that's it, his style means anyone who can box half decent on the back foot beats him easy.

Finished is harsh. Reminds me of Egginton quite a bit. Defensively AWOL. He deserved the W at the weekend and Conway is actually a good boxer; I'd seen him before. Cheeseman should still have done a bit better.
He's just simply a limited fighter who will probably be in some very fun fights.
