Out of interest which "soft touch" has actually deserved a title shot ever??

Parkers next opponent, Leapai, was the WBO mandatory for Klitschko after beating Boytsov and could be described as a soft touch.

    Parker a "soft touch"?

Only man to beat Ruiz and only man to take Joshua the distance

What is wrong with posters on here??

It sounds like Ruiz is already looking past Joshua. I dont know if thats a good show of confidence or over confidence.

I wonder if Ruiz has a rematch clause should he lose to AJ.

He was a mandatory, a "Soft Touch" is going to be a easy fight you choose coming off a hard fight.

Well unless its the WBC and they let you have "soft touches" as your mandatory's..

No. It doesn't work like that. If Ruiz loses in the rematch, Joshua won't have any obligations to him afterwards.

Which is another reason why rematches clauses should be banned from boxing.
Imagine the injustice if Joshua squeaks past Ruiz on a debatable decision and then has absolutely no intention of making it a trilogy.

    Ruiz-Parker 2 is a good fight.
It shows Ruiz has no intention of taking an easy route after he beats Joshua again.

Thats a bit unfair. You hear of trilogies but I guess Joshua wouldn't want one with Ruiz. Ruiz is trouble for any heavyweight.

Look at the situation from the other perspective: without the rematch clause, Ruiz would have never received such an opportunity. So, even if he gets "robbed" in the rematch, he's a star already.

Again, Ruiz is a star already, so even if he loses to Joshua, he will receive other big fights. And maybe even the third fight with AJ will happen later. But not because of the rematch clauses but just because such fight would sell well.

I'll add it's (the rematch) also another big pay day for Ruiz.

Yeah, that's a way of lookin at it but if rematches clauses were prohibited it wouldn't work like that.
At the end of the day, Ruiz received a shot because Hearn/Joshua were desperate for an opponent and he was considered a viable one. There's no good reason why the ex-champion should have a legal contract to dictate the next fight of the new champion, regardless of how the new champion got the opportunity.
It's not only excessive demands on the new champion (which he agreed to, of courese), it's unfair on all the other contenders waiting in line.
And the fact that the clause is one-sided and doesn't allow for a trilogy just shows how much it is about promotional control rather than good sense and sportsmanship.
    In my opinion.

Anyway, I think Ruiz is happy to just get on with it and beat Joshua again and move on. It's a big money fight for him so it's a good thing for him in this case.
