Maybe that had something to do with Ali's ridiculous punch output  do you really think he was gonna dodge EVERYTHING Ali threw?

I wouldn't even bother with this guy anymore. He just can't get over the fact the Tyson just didnt have the mental toughness to beat an anywhere near ATG ...just folded when he knew in his heart of hearts he couldn't or wouldn't maybe give it that extra to win. Teddy Atlas was right all along Tyson just wasnt mentally tough enough that's what it boils down too because he had the physical skills. He just couldn't put it together.

I don't consider Ali threw a ridiculous amount of punches in FOTC ,certainly not as many as Frazier.

I've done my homework Ali was in the hospital for a few hours while the right side of his cheek was examined. He had an xRay the injury was a hemorrage of the cheek.`
Ali 's main problem was a bruised right hip bone didn't you know that?
Frazier to his credit ,made the press conference
"His face was swollen and misshapen and he held an ice bag to the ugly welts that had popped up all over it, painfully responding to questions through puffed lips." He was examined by Dr Harry Kleiman."Can you give me a pill to stop this hurting Doc ?"
    Frazier pleaded painfully.
Dr Kleiman took out a small bottle and shook out several enzyme tablets to reduce the swelling and several dilone tablets to dull the pain.
In the days that followed the fight there was much talk of a rematch-most of it from Ali
The beaten champion began his campaign the very next day insisting he had won the fight
,scored my points inflicted more damage. He supported his arguments with post fight pictures
in the morningpapers that showed Frazier's face lumpy and beaten out of shape. "Look at me," he insisted .Look at my face, except for this swelling there's not a mark on me" The campaign grew in intensity especially after Joe slipped into a Philadelphia hospital where he stayed for almost 3 weeks,.First reports were ominous and rumors that the heavyweight champion was near death abounded.
His blood pressure had risen and he had a kidney ailment.
He was exhausted emotionally and physically exhausted.
"Come Out Smokin" by Phil Pepe.
Four months after the FOTC Ali fought no 6 ranked Jimmy Ellis.
A year after FOTC Frazier fought unranked 3rd rater Terry Daniels in defence of his title, following it up with another defence against another unranked 3 rd rater Ron Stander. Thereby avoiding all the ranked contenders for 2 years.

Now is there anything in my post that is untrue? YES OR NO?
I ought to remember the FOTC ,it was on my birthday!

Good post. Frazier may have won the FOTC but he took a very serious beating.

And where did Phil Pepe get his info? Why is Phil Pepe the end all to be all here. Yea Frazier was exhausted after that fight. Wouldn't you be seeing the pressure and volume of punches Frazier through. He just won the greatest HWC fight in history against a bigger taller faster man no less.
Yes I know all about the blood pressure as I mentioned it and it plagued him his entire life. As far as bruising some fighters bruise just practically from looking at them while others can come out unmarked from wars just like guys who cut easy so dont come at me with that dumb #### that you know better about.
Like I said go visit the many Ali Frazier threads if this is the rout you want to go. Doesn't change the fact Tyson never ever beat an ATG who wasnt either past prime or a blown up light Heavyweight. He had quit in him Frazier didn't. Case closed I'm moving on. I'm not getting sucked into your childish rewriting of history to suite your needs. Ali no different than Leonard from Duran 1 full of excuses nothing but excuses. Two peas in a pod. Both got there asses Kicked but already had the excuses lined up lol.

Punch stats I reckon would be in Ali's favor.

No I mean like Leonard in the first fight. Thought I was pretty clear on that.

Your words were clear but I was confused about how anyone could look at the Leonard-Duran series and feel that Leonard was the one with the after-the-fact excuses. I mean, how many different excuses did Duran and his camp make after he quit in New Orleans? And did Leonard even make any after the fact excuses at all? Oh well.

He won it alright imo but it may have been a case of," winning the battle and losing the war".

I haven't looked ,but my point is he didn't throw ,"a ridiculous amount of punches,", he took breathers laying on the ropes ,trying to con Joe, and the public he was in control.I thought he was near to being stopped in the 11thrd.

Agreed, but this was imo the hardest hitting Ali I've ever seen. He was putting EVERYTHING into those punches. Frazier was (obviously) not going to slip them all.

Ironically I had Ali winning on a round by round basis.
