No matter what Ron Howard movies say, I don't think Max Baer was evil.

    Terrific post. :thumbsup

I wonder where you rank Schmeling and Sharkey then. Because to me it´s pretty clear that Baer ranks behind those two in his era - and Louis of course too.

He wasnt evil but he could be argued to be a vice among young ladies.

Better resume overall. Better longevity, better top win.

    I dont think so.
There's a argument for Schmeling being ahead of Baer, but I'd have him behind, but still in the top 20.

Sharkey was an excellent fighter at his best but i dont see him being ranked ahead of Baer at all.

I don't have a problem with ranking Schmeling above Baer either, but like you I just don't see Sharkey above Baer.

and he was way fatter and couldn't cut off the ring like he did in the 70s. plus That Foreman was very inconsistent. If he was better then the Foreman of the 70s, then certainly he wouldn't have lost to Morrison and Holyfield?

Plus the 90s Foreman didn't have as much as arsenal as he did in the 70s. he primarly used his jab and overhand right, while the 70s version used his jab, uppercut, left hook, overhand right, etc.

Nice to read a thread where Baer isn't called prehistoric unskilled brawler who won hsi fights only because of size and chin :) Some quality breakdowns here.
