In the Ruiz rematch, if AJ does what everyone says he should do and wins a jab-and-grab snorefest, what will it do to his popularity in the UK?

Will fans boo if it’s in Wales? Will there be any jumping off the bandwagon, considering he’s no longer really the action fighter that originally appealed to the masses?

Or does it really matter? Is it all about the belts and national pride?

I’d like to know what you think.

If he tries that he will gas in my opinion. The pressure Ruiz will put him under with his feet and the mental pressure will prove to be too much and AJ will gas after 7/8 rounds of long distance boxing and movement. But, if he does pull it off he will get some hate for the tactics but mostly praise.

Method of victory won’t matter. If he wins he will be a hero. If he loses it’s all over.

If Joshua tries to keep Ruiz on the end of a long jab all night he will get absolutely bladdered in the rematch. I’m not making out that Joshua has turned into a poor boxer overnight, I don’t believe that. However, consider this for a moment...keeping Ruiz on the end of a jab means Joshua will once again be retreating on the backfoot. He’ll have to circle once again because Ruiz is very swift in the way he transitions from the outside to the inside, coupled with his very crouched, mobile stance and very fast hands, Joshua can’t afford to move back in straight lines like he did several times in the 1st fight. That burns an awful lot of energy, particularly nervous energy because he knows Ruiz is going to be looking to launch an attack as soon as his feet are planted. I agree with @emallini

It’ll be interesting seeing what plan they do put together for the rematch but I suppose my point is, keeping him long won’t work so to win this, I think he’s going to have to roll the dice and back his power early in the fight.

The only way AJ comes out looking bad after a win is if he somehow gets a gift decision on the cards. He wins clean and he’s a hero again.

It’ll do more for his career than getting knocked out again...

Heard someone saying how he got knocked out by a bloke from the pub the other day...was annoying having to explain he was actually a well schooled boxer.

If a well-schooled futbol player built like Ruiz punked the Premier League, you think his background would matter? People would laugh their arses off.

What a terrible example. If someone in that shape did come to the premier league and was banging in goals for fun, it would be through being a class player. It would be unusual but wouldn't make the premier league a laughing stock

Big iosh cannot fight on the back foot, has a horrendous gastank, a glass jaw and QUIT in his last fight.

The fat lad makes him quit in the rematch even quicker.

One rematch defeat from joining my list of Heavyweight Puddings - he needs to get in there, get on the front foot from the first bell and wipe out Rice Pudding Ruiz Jnr in style.

Frequently posted well in advance of his defeat that Tony Dosh had a CV full of puddings and a 41 year old Champ who was inactive over the previous 18 months.

The only belt holder he beat in the ring was Charles Martin and his career has been carefully managed to build the hype.

There are simply no excuses and he should retire if he cannot beat the big munching New Porker Rice Pudding Ruiz Jnr.

Joshua needs to go back to the seek and destroy style he had, before whoever the f**k convinced him he can box off his back foot.
He needs not to lunge in as recklessly, but to be seeking the knock out from the opening bell.
The loss is not McCracken's fault, but Joshua hasn’t improved at all in a number of years. He should hire Freddie Roach. Have him using the weapons he has more effectively.
I’ve heard Mayweather snr was sounded out but he would confuse Joshua by teaching him too much. Roach would improve what he was. He keeps it very simple.
If he does that, he flattens Ruiz. If he doesn’t it’s repeat and all over.

I don't think anyone will care, will partly if it's on a 4am. Modern society has gone to to everything in highlights or short clips, almost like Twitter etc, almost a microcosm of an entire fight in a few 20 second highlights and tweets

To be fair mate, you cannot blame people for that when you look at the Turd Eh Day put on last night - another 3 one sided stinkers.

Repeat every fortnight, throw any hyped fights on PPV and it is no wonder boxthing remains a minority sport.

Even worse is the noble art in current trajectory is quickly losing ground to MMA and even bare knuckle fights are eating into the boxthing pie now as well.

Not to mention there have been plenty of elite footballers in the past noticeably out of shape yet able to play top flight football. Ok not to the same extent as Ruiz and some other heavyweight boxers, but Matt Le Tissier was a fat ******* and one of the most gifted to come out of the UK in recent years. Andy Reid was quite literally overweight yet played regular first team football in the top flight.

If you look at some of Ruiz’s gym work he’d make some of the fittest gym rats we all know look completely silly in the gym.
