Since the Mayweather era, fighters that sit on the backfoot and steal rounds are becoming too appreciated. Backfoot fighters in the past always remain active and land a lot of punches but now you can school someone by landing 9 punches per round. The likes of BJS, huighie fury, tyson fury, andrade would be booed for half of their performances in the past. Boxing is entertainment and I would like close rounds to go to the guys coming forward and trying to make the fight.

Blame the other guy for not being able to do anything about it. Learn how to apply educated pressure close the distance cut the ring off and go to the body to slow them down. No need to get upset at the fighter being able to have the other man fight his fight thats called ring generalship.:deal:

If someone decide not to plant their feet at any point during the fight and constantly holding on the inside, there is nothing you can do sometimes.

If there's "nothing you can do", you deserve to lose.

Your statement is true and valid. It's up up the ref and the fighter. Some boxers have a A side status and are allowed to hold and run ti'll their hearts content. Some refs wont tolerate holding. But running is allowed and admired. Very valid point. I do believe there is a thing called too much running and too much holding.

Cutting the ring of, throwing proper feints, coming in behind multiple jabs, and wrestling your opponents arms to create space on the inside for your own shots are all effective, but appear to be a dying art in modern day boxing.

A lot of boxers these days thing that plodding after an opponent with no head movement or feints and then throwing a lazy jab and closing the distance by jumping in with a wide looping shot, and then crying about their opponent not standing still so as they could hit them, is an effective tactic against a back foot fighter.

Not a humorous one, just a very true one.

And at the other end of the spectrum are those who think just backing up and flicking jabs is effective boxing.

I've said the same thing back when FM was doing his thing. Everybody and their mama knew what FM was bringing into the ring. If a fighter isn't prepared to deal with another fighter fighting off the back foot then you get the L. Don't change the rules of the sport because your hero can't deal with a mover. Learn to cut off the ring.

Exactly crying about a fighter's style is basically an admission of defeat. Guys who use movement can be successfully dealt with beaten and stopped its happened hundreds of times throughout the history of the sport it's nothing new.

In my opinion the main issue with people who move and defend is not their style, but it's the fact that too often they are allowed to hold without punishment once the other fighter closes the distance, and then the referee comes in a split both guys, giving a huge advantage to those who have longer reach, better jabs and a defensive/mover style.

Tyson vs Lewis, Mayweather vs Pacquiao are great examples of that.

This is like the Willie Pep era. The vast majority of boxers fought off of the front foot. In comes Pep and no one knows what the **** is going.

Yeah, it sucks that some only land a handful of punches per round, but for them the key is to win.
Boxing called the sweet science and prizefighting for a reason. The boxers aren't obligated to entertain. I skipped Boo-Boo yesterday because I was tired and he had bored me to death in the past. No one is forcing you to watch these guys.

Eubanks liked to be the counter puncher & feint, freeze & confuse his opponenets so they didn't know where they were...
Carl the cat was not a high class Boxer but had the "Good" Fundamentals & when the Charlos talk about heart & lions ....just watch this all the way through. If Either of the Charlo's thought this was going to be their nights work they'd be filling their nappys...that would go for Andrade & a few more
herat of lions applys to both theses guys, maybe not the slickest but Heart ,undoubtably YES!

Flicking a harmless jab while moving backwards and tying up at every opportunity is doing nothing except avoiding combat.
