In all honesty and respect to Rock ,I don't see it getting to the point where it's fought in the inside .
Tyson at his fastest Best would hurt Marciano pretty quick imo .Look at Walcott dropping him with in minute s and think what Tyson could do .

I said that Tyson probably would be able to conclude it at mid range, but who knows?

I'd give Marciano a better chance against Bowe than Foreman.

Prime Tyson? On what are you basing this prediction exactly? I know that it’s become an exaggerated cliche that Tyson was clueless at in-fighting, but he hurt plenty of people at close range. What makes you think Marciano would maul a faster, defensively superior, stronger, more powerful, prime opponent?

It is not an exaggerated cliche.

Tyson was useless on the inside, if his opponent fought back on he inside!

I understand that he might have been OK on the inside, but Marciano was actually exceptional!

Tyson would do well to make this a mid range affair!

You might want to say who you mean, Houdini. Without you using the reply tag, it looks like you mean yourself.

Not fair. Tyson faced terrific pressure against Douglas, Ruddock, Holyfield in fight one, Lewis and took his lumps as bravely as could be expected. He showed more 'intrinsic toughness' in these fights than Rocky ever had to. I know Charles split his nostril but Marciano was in with a smaller older guy whom he had already beaten. It's not like he was in some mission impossible situation.

For all we know, Marciano might have folded like a cheap lawn chair when faced with a 6'4" 231lb boxer on the best night of his career or a 6'5" 245lb great when well past his own best. We'll never know as Rocky never faced such men in his career and retired before he was at a disadvantage in a fight where he was, for once, the older, smaller man.

Ez...You’re wrong. Tyson says HIMSELF his tough guy image was fake. THE REASON Tyson is not rated higher is his inability in a losing fight against top opposition to gain a victory. Finally Tyson says HIMSELF he does not rate with Ali (and with it others who exhibited the will to win of an ATG) in terms of will to win. Learn the history of the sport before making nonsensical comments.

Tyson looked ok at infighting when he was devastating Berbick who was a huge man adept at mauling on the inside. Berbicks entire style was predicated on making a fight a mauling affair at close quarters. Trevor couldn’t box on the outside to save his life. The right to the side, right to the head combo Mike copied off Duran and smashed the big Jamaican with was a wonderful example of offensive infighting as was the uppercut Tyson landed on Douglas.

Mike was pretty typical of most people built like absolute brick s h i t houses. He didn’t have great stamina so after five or so rounds he liked to rest in the clinches. In the early rounds he was a handful on the inside.

A prime Tyson vs Marciano would resemble a murder for as long as it lasted.

    Cheers All.
