Granted, it isn't nice to ask trick questions.:)

I'd favor that version of Sonny against all, including prime Ali, Lewis, Foreman, Frazier and Tyson.

Ali and possibly Louis. That's it imo. Liston was a H2H beast.

Only if you're weren't afraid of him!!! Was he mentally tough?...not so much!!! That's overlooked in most discussions about Liston. If doubt starts to creep in to his head...the fight could go either way. Just ask Mike Tyson...if he hits you...and you fall down...chances are it's over for you....BUT....if he hits you...and you hit him back...the thought creeps in..."What do I do now?" Heart has LOTS to do with these "head to head" match-ups!!! You can pick your favorite time period to make your point...but as champion from 1962 to 1964...he beat "china chinned" Floyd Patterson in '62 and '63...both in the first round....then he "QUIT ON HIS STOOL" as champ against the light hitting Cassius Clay in Miami in Feb 1964...(who got into Sonny's head)...and of course the...(ahem)...second fight up in Maine with Clay in May 1965....(I've seen better acting in the WWF/WWE). You could "out gut" Liston. Met Liston in Plymouth Ma. in late 1964 as he trained for the rematch with Ali...shook his hand as well.

Williams stood up to him and broke his nose. Did he win? Valdez shut his eye. Did he win?

How do you account for him finishing fight with a broken jaw and only losing a split decision,or winning a fight after sustaining broken nose? Does that not require heart?

Yet ,according to Houdini, Liston is not a great fighter?

I don’t rate Sonny very high. In his prime he was a very predictable but hard punching hwt. No real defense. Offense followed a typical pattern. No imagination here!

No defense? This video begs to differ.

What is a good defense? It’s the ability to block, slip, parry, bob and weave, duck, feint use footwork all to make an opponent miss/not land punches.

Listons ability to do so was very limited. Mainly he would step forward moving his head side to side in robotic fashion....like everything else he did.
