BJS is slick as they come but I can't see him avoiding Smith for 12 rounds. Eventually Smith tags and stops BJS!
I think Saunders fights to the level of his opponent as someone else has stated, if he gets in top condition I think he sneaks a decision but it will be close something like 115-113 sort of score .
Be a great fight, as I think you could argue they are 2 of our 3 best fighters p4p. For me Smith wins. The main reasons I feel he wins are, 1) He would limit Saunders world class jab just as he did with Groves 2) His reach, beautiful long accurate jab would offset Saunders and keep him constantly working. 3) Smith is the much better fighter up close and Billy would need to come medium to close to land, enablingSmith to hurt him to the body up close or land as Saunders retreats. 4) Smith has the better engine and punches much harder than Billy so I feel he would stop him between 8-12 rounds, if not I actually think he would win on points as his jab will be scoring all night.
2 of my favourite British fighters. I believed Mikey Garcia would be able to outbox Errol Spence and still believe that despite that one-aided beatdown, Mikey is the more skilful, accomplished fighter. However, up to a certain weight division, size really does matter (I would say once you’re hitting 15 stone+ any fighter can smoke an opponent). Much the same with this, I rate Callum highly but Saunders is far more skilful & fluid...but it wouldn’t matter, because Smith is way too big and very effective with it. Saunders wouldn’t be stopped, he has a solid chin and plenty of self preservation, but I don’t see him carrying the sting in his shots to deter Smith from closing the ring off. As we’ve joked about in the past, Saunders could find room in a single bed with Gemma Collins but I don’t think he could do it enough to win more than 5 rounds. Very close though.
Wouldn't back many in or around Saunders weight to beat him when on form, but Smith is just too big, and at some point he would connect and not let Billy off the hook.
Not sure Saunders dancing will be quite as effective against Smiths longer reach ... & if the distance closes, BJS’s fleshy mid rif is made for a Smith body shot. Smith the firm favourite for me.
BJS just isn’t a super middle weight, and Smith is an absolute monster at the weight. BJS isn’t even a big middleweight, there will look like there’s a few weight classes between the two of them which will just be too much. It’s still an intriguing fight and a good chance for both to have a big fight which they need, let’s hope it happens.
Smith to win convincingly by making BJS run for the hills after he decides to try and counter and gets nailed, and hopefully, put and end to this meme as BJS as some sort of SRL reincarnate. The guy's a fukin talker and a blagger who always has a convenient reason, excuse or injury why he cant when it comes to really stepping up. No different to most others of course, but the way he's lauded compared to what he's actually achieved is staggering.
I just can’t pick against Billie Joe in this one. He always finds a way to win because he has a supreme boxing brain and is very skilled at adapting to his opponent. I doubt that Callum Smith has the boxing skills or ring IQ to beat BJS, his only hope is hurting BJS and stopping him.
So did i twenty!.Mikey is pushing it at 140.Would love to see callum walk down and put a beating on Billy joe.
Saunders is a middle Smith May aswell be a cruiser. A well schooled one at that. No amount of slickness is overcoming that for 12 rounds. Plus, Saunders was hurt against someone crap the other week.
Very intriguing fight...both technical both durable... smith has power advantage... saunders with agility advantage Im edging smith for this one, he carries a lot of power at this weight and the skill required to deliver it
