Marciano did have better two handed power. He displayed it against older, somewhat shopworn opponents. I concede his left had more KO pop than Joe's right carried. To call Joe a one handed fighter is dead wrong. Not accurate. His right was always in the mix and he had coordination. Double hooks, under and over, over and under. Right to the body, right uppercut. Joe Bugner learned this as did Jerry Quarry in their rematch.
If Eddie Futch was the chief second I wouldnt be suprised if he had Joe stand up and box Rocky's ears off. Left jab with Rock looking for the hook Frazier popping him with the right he didn't have. If you it watch his fight with Quarry in '73. Marciano was much greater than Quarry and would give stiffer resistance but once that blood starts flowing its restricts vision. Rock cuts just as often as Jerry did and was shorter and smaller than Quarry. This content is protected
Lacked consistancy? He turned pro in '64 after winning the Gold Medal by the way). Didn't lose a fight until 1973. He didn't lose for 9 years facing the toughest around at the time. He was a slouch.
Joe is a classic example of a fighter with no right hand. Only hwt champion to never knock down any opponent with his right..... never a one. Joe lacked coordination between his left and right making it difficult for him to use that right in combination with his left. With Joe it was mostly right hands to the body as this is an easy stationary target to aim for. Joe stated himself his right was a work in progress very late into his career.
You are the classic ignoramus who believes in his own tiny mind he is right and everybody else knows nothing. There is nothing to be learned in debating with you except the depths one fools self delusion can descend to.
Untrue. Been following the sport since 1970. Nothing I am posting is inaccurate. Frazier never knocked down anyone with his right hand. Only hwt champion that I am aware of with this dubious distinction. Frazier’s lack of a right hand/right hand coordination is well known and understood. Stop being a FAN and instead look for and appreciate the truth. I used to be like you, a fan, but over the years find much more fulfillment in understanding boxing history as it was. Not as I’d like it to be.
If you have been doing so since the ‘60s you still have so much to learn. I’ve found European boxing fans have in general a distorted view of American boxing history. Lacking depth.
Lol, i will go one closer and take a stab at Kent! I was in 2 minds at first but a blind man can see it bud.
I think the weight difference would pose a challenge to Rocky, but due to Rocky's short stature and crouching stance I doubt that Joe's bob and weave would be much of a factor.
