Monzon will dictate the pace, his level of ability was never tested outright by anyone. He had power and ring savvy. Jones loses the ability to be the ring general and is reduced to flurries and counters.

    Monzon by decision.

I'm going with Jones becuz he's faster and will beat Carlos to the punch and faster on the inside. To beat Roy you have to clean his clock

Couldn't possibly happen. Jones would be too busy crying about how he was robbed outside of Murica when he was fighting for cups and medals, obviously too stupid to realise there is a huge difference between that and prize fighting for money.

This might go some way to explaining why he is still getting punched in the head for relative peanuts.

Despite his natural abilities, Roy's going to realize he's in the ring with a natural fighter. And Monzon didn't play around, after losing a few early rounds, Monzon starts setting pace about the 6th, then takes control and methodically takes Jones apart. Monzon in the 13th, or 14th round, by TKO.

Guess we can all agree Monzon was the much tougher more durable man, with of course a much better jaw, he was NEVER stopped in 100 pro fights.

Speed doesn't matter much if you can't hurt your opposition, Chavez, Taylor ring a bell?

Roy never fought 15 rounder either, those last 3 rounds make a huge difference

Monzon is simply too slow for Jones and would never win a decision from him. The only chance he would have it to hurt him ( and jones just tries to survive) or KO him.. I can't envision him winning a decision

I would have to go with Jones on a UD. He would be too busy for any other result.

Monzon is the greatest ever when it comes to controlling pace and distance when you combine that with his ATG chin and ATG finishing ability he's the single most unbeatable fighter there is IMO.

That said Roy has the best chance because those flurries sway rounds so easily. Very close fight I think Mozon gets the decision 75% of the time.

I think Monzon could score a KO late in a 15 rounder.

The early rounds are Jones' as Monzon wasn't the quickest out of the blocks and could be made to look a little ponderous early on against quicker, slicker guys, even if they were smaller ala Napoles. Monzon had outstanding conditioning and the perfect engine for 15-rounders, something which is alien to Jones...But on the other hand, Roy was a very big Middleweight (probably wouldn't have been squeezing himself down to 160 in the era of same-day weigh ins) and was good and big enough to dominate at 175, which in turn is alien to Monzon.

Much of Monzon's success was reliant on his use of his natural strength and size at Middleweight. It's one of the reasons I've never really thought he'd have been successful at 175. Could he outmuscle and maul Jones in close? Possibly, but it was incredibly hard to pin him down and implement that strategy, as scores of guys found out.

Both guys were incredibly dominant in their primes, albeit with very different styles. But I think Jones would have it slightly easier preparing for Monzon and finding a game plan to win than vice versa. Jones faced a few cut-price versions of Monzon, whereas I'm not sure Monzon ever fought anyone quite like Jones, although Valdes and Benvenuti were brilliant all-round boxers and stylists.

I'd tentatively go with Jones on points due to a combination of his natural size, speed, elusiveness and own considerable power. But only 60:40.
