    I feel a small guy like Canelo beating a powerful fighter like Kovalev and overcoming that reach advantage would outdo anything any Mexican fighter ever achieved, do fans agree with this statement at all?

    If Canelo beats Kovalev at 175 with no BS catchweight, crippling rehydration clause, or failed drug tests? Then he's knocking at the door of Mexican GOAT. BUTT—

    Canelo still got GGG problems and needs to actually beat him fairly. Then I have no problem calling him the Mexican GOAT.

    All great fighters have been given help from the judge's, Pacquiao had his all the times he fought Marquez, Tito had his when he beat dlh, Mosley had his in his rematch with dlh and the list goes on....

    History has proven that Canelo will not fight Kov until it is clear that Sergei is shot which, frankly, might be true now.

    No , because Kovalev is old and past prime.
    No, because Canelo lost to GGG
    And biggest NO is because there’s one truly great mexican boxer JCC .

    I doubt Canelo will surpass JCC but he is earning the right to at least merit discussing his ranking among some of Mexico's best. Something that would have been sacrilege a mere few years ago.

    Objectively speaking his resume is arguably comparable to JCC's at the same age.
